This is a community, not your own personal journal. It doesn't matter why you are looking for stories in a particular genre, just that you are and what it is. The rambling explanations beforehand on why you think John Sheppard is being emotionally repressed or how you've always disliked Jennifer Keller and want to see her get what's coming to her are pointless, annoying, and will not achieve anything but lead, once again, to wank. If you want to rant, please do so in your own journals.

From this point on, when you post a search, please post the search only. No editorialising.

I'm not sure what preceded this direction from the admins, and admittingly I've never searched here. Only on occasion have I made comments on others comments, etc... And in the interest of not getting slapped down I'm hesitant making this comment, but what gives? I don't remember any search request that was so over the top that it warranted quite this much vitriol? I'm confused, this is a "friendly" genre finding journal, yes? Couldn't we have just been told to not make personal observations without the lecture? Is this comment for all of us, or did the admins have just one or two users who overstepped the boundries? I mean no disrespect. I'm just a little taken back by the strength of the admin's obvious anger.

The admin is somewhat tired of asking people to edit their posts or deleting said posts outright, only to have someone else ramble on about their problems with the show and its characters. It's also my experience that bluntness, while off-putting to some, generally gets the point across.

About a month ago I was this close *makes about a milimeter's distance between thumb and forefinger* to making a similar post on the topic of this comm not being a kindergarteners' playbox and that everybody should read the rules and grow up. Amen to that! There's nothing like happily reading your flist only to find someone going on about how Cam's evil, they want Jennifer to drown and Rodney's team are mean to him. Though not usually all in one post...

I can't tell you how many times I scroll over a fic request because instead of just asking for the fic, they sit there and tell you about every little personal detail of their life that you really have no desire or business knowing.
