So I'm looking for THE fics. You know, the ones that are the first you'd recommend to someone who's just new to the fandom.

I'm introducing a friend to SGA and while I'm remembering the obvious ones like Written by the Victors I'm sure I'm forgetting a whole lot more. 

So please, rec me the best fics - any pairing, any genre, just the best written ones you keep coming back to.

I guess which fic I'd recommend would depend on what sort of elements attract somebody to fandoms. The isolated community / living ship angles are some of my main draws, but that'll be different for other people.

For Gen fics that I keep reading again and again I have a few:

See No Evil (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=28) by greyias is a Big Bang fic written for the prompt: Stargate Program: Never Happened.

By the same author: Wit's End (http://www.lupous.net/sga/wits.htm). A Groundhog Day style fic with the summary: Everyone has their breaking point -- including one Dr. Rodney McKay. Would recommend going through this author's works!

Games of Chance (http://sga-flashfic.livejournal.com/714861.html) by xparrot is a technological spin on the same theme with Rodney desperately trying to save John.

The Last Survivor (http://kodiak-bear.livejournal.com/81046.html) by kodiak_bear has the most incredible OC point of view!

Running On Empty (http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/running.shtml) by sholio has John and Rodney tagged as Runners.

Also by the same author: The Killing Frost (http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/frost.shtml) where it is other's views of Atlantis and Pegasus which cause all the problems. Caldwell has a significant part in this too.

Plus: That Which Is Broken (http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/broken.shtml) has John even angrier at Rodney than he is in canon with Teyla doing her best to bring them back together. Again I would highly recommend going through the author's other stories!

Finally, with no pairings, but sexual organs (and crack fic warning) is Are You There God? It's Me, Rodney" (http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/191951.html) by sheafrotherdon. Rodney gets an extra set of genitals which seems a lot of fun until the inevitable happens/turns up! Probably funniest for women!
