A. b. It sounds a little overdramatic for I was inspired by the famous "The Ones You Leave Behind" by Leah, but it doesn't necessarily have to contain John being permanently gone. The important detail is for Rodney to find out that John loves/loved him, after he's disappeared/gotten sick/presumed dead, etc. AU is good, canon is better. Thanks in advance.

Canon AU - John goes missing, Rodney's searching, there is angst and a baby. Really intense story. The only part that is a bit iffy on your request is Rodney doesn't really find out that John loves him (hence the angst) when John is missing/PD, though he does find out how much he's respected and thought of.
