New to this fandom- requesting long fics

I'm requesting long McKay/Sheppard slash fics with complex plots or lots of character development. Extra points for anything with science talk and political maneuvering. AU's are also fine.

jane_connor recced you a bunch of really good ones, but another excellent one I'd add (yes, it's time to rec it again) is Indelible (http://archiveofourown.org/works/120496?view_full_work=true) by shaenie. ~128,300 words of McShep plotty goodness, includes mathy!John, finding more Ancient toys, telepathic bonding via control chairs, one of the coolest OCs around, and an awesome space-battle. as just some of the subplots.

Much shorter, but plenty of political maneuvering (by Teyla, with assistance from Woolsey and the team), and a slow development into McShep, lilyfarfalla's Where to Start Over and How to Begin (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_santa/312536.html) (or, How they nabbed Atlantis and took it back to Pegasus while making the IOA think it was a great idea). ~15,300 words.

And if you don't mind a self-pimp and are still looking for (more) ways to navigate the vast ocean of SGA fic, in hopes of helping other new entrants to the fandom, after I'd gotten immersed for a bit, I compiled a (Newer) SGA fic Readers Guide (http://skaredykat.livejournal.com/1083.html) post that lists a bunch of resources I found useful (and wished I'd found earlier myself). :)

That's a tricky thing! (Personally I'd say start with astolat, resonant8, and cesperanza's SGA fics as excellent introductions to the fandom -- though I'd save astolat's Transcendental and speranza's 30,000+ word fics for a little later in your reading. Then probably some of ltlj/Martha Wilson's and friendshipper's short and mid-length fics, and then circle back to the first primer listed in my Readers Guide followed by maybe the stories on astridv and unamaga's big rec posts. After that, well, there's another few tens of thousands of SGA stories to entertain you...) Happy discovery and reading! :)
