I have just been re-reading the gorgeous 'Accidentally In Love' by Tiger Lady

Followed by reading the lovely 'Things to Do In Denver When You're Dead' by Speranza
(http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Denver.html)

And now I really want to find more stories where Rodney and John get together slowly, with nice dates and maybe a bit of emotional misdirection and a little angst.  You know, the slow build, chocolate boxes and roses, 'will they or wont they?'.  As opposed to the ever popular 'Oh?  You like me?!  Quick, trousers off and get on the bed!" (not that I'm knocking 'trousers off and get on the bed!', but you know, variety is nice too. :)) 

Longing and yearning are a definite plus.

Total AU's are deffinitely welcome.

I LOVED Time in a bottle! When John totally loses it because Rodney's just...gone...and when they eek out the touching to make it through the day...*sigh* I melt every single time.

Cleave, I don't know, so I'm looking forward to that one.

The others you've recced look interesting. I will read them, even the one that, yes indeed, does sound pretty silly. John as Home Shopping Host. *g*

You're going to get sick of me eventually, because I don't bookmark anything, so it's all a matter of fics popping into my head. I'm assuming you've read A Beautiful Lifetime Event (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/lifetime_event.html) by astolat and A Farm in Iowa (http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/105567.html) by sheafrotherdon, just because everyone on the planet seems to have read them. Two other stories that recently occurred to me:

Looking for Lamour (http://trinityofone.livejournal.com/40661.html) by trinityofone is a roadtrip fic. It's the one where they drive Route 66 and John slowly figures things out. John's POV really works for me in this one.

Slow and Steady (http://kellifer-fic.livejournal.com/32413.html) by kellifer_fic has one of my personal favorite things: a Rodney who is neither oblivious nor socially incompetent. It's the one where John doesn't touch anyone.

Oh yes, Beautiful Lifetime Event was my gateway fic for this fandom (after something of a gruesome false start with a fic involving John, Rodney and some alien inforced fisting...ahem...)

And would you believe it, I just this second discovered A farm in Iowa, just as I saw your comment.

Slow and steady sounds great!

Every time I think I must have come to the limist of this fandom I just discover more and more...I need to get organised and make myself a reading list or I'll never get through them all.

That and a bookmarking system.

I was thinking of an online fandom book club, where we read and discuss the 'classics'. Then I thought 'Someone will have done this already. Ever hear of such a thing?

Isn't it good? There's a reason most everyone on the planet has read it. :o) sheafrotherdon raised a phenomenal amount of money for fire_fic by promising to write another part, so there will probably be an addition soon after you finish the current parts. *rubs hands greedily*

I have issues with a lot of kid!fic myself, but some stories overcome that.

Have you read the one where John is Rodney's relationship therapist from Pasedena and has a daughter? That one is brilliant kid fic, mostly because she's hardly in it and when she is she's taking the piss out of Rodney and/or their big gay crushes on each other. It's really sweet.

I love 101 Ways to Get Lucky (In Love)! Although I'll admit, I get embarrassed on behalf of fictional people really easily, so when I re-read it, I tend to skip over the beginning, when Rondey is being horrible to his staff. It took me months to read Bell Curve, or Ladies Night at the Boom Boom Room (http://glitterati.talkoncorners.net/fiction/bellcurve/bellcurve.html) by rageprufrock, because I had to keep covering my face or clicking over to another screen when I got embarrassed for Rodney. And that's a great fic, recced far and wide. If you haven't read it yet, it's the one where John is a bartender/occasional stripper, and then he's Rodney's TA. Despite her habit of embarrassing me, Pru's descriptions just knock me dead every single time.

As I'm sure you've discovered if you went over there, fire_fic is a community created to raise money for the victims of a house fire. I am so in love with fandom for the generosity people have shown. It's amazing.

Oh man...I totally hear you re: getting a shame on for characters. I'm always having to walk out of the room when I'm watching TV (usually when Lex does something completely stupid and/or gay-but-not-in-a-good-way). But yeah, I get embarrassed reading fics too: I was once (naughtily) reading a Joe/David rps, which I would never normally do because it just leaves me feeling icky and red in the face. Anyway, near the end David accidentally calls Joe 'John' in a moment of angst, and I actually yelled 'HOLY SHIT! NO!' at the top of my lungs and turned off the computer. This would have in no way been a problem if it hadn't been 3 am and the computer hadn't been right next to my ma's bedroom. Parental questions about why you're red in the face and yelling obscenities at 3 in the morning are in no way cool.

I am totally going to read the Boom boom one now.
