Hi genrefinders,

I'm in the mood for some character bashing - for stories where someone contrives to make everything difficult for the heroes, which makes it easy to haaaaate on them. However, for my own peace of mind, that someone cannot be a woman. So please rec me stories where male character bashing occurs!

General Landry would be a candidate, or some IOA politician, or Tunney (from "Brain Storm"), but I don't really care. (That's a lie: Please no one from the regular cast, and not Kavanagh.)

hopeful,

Hmmm. Tricky restrictions!

In Replaced (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2933503/1/Replaced), I'm not sure I'd say Greenwall is bashed, but he is most certainly the antagonist and he's not particularly competent, scientifically speaking. (Post-Trinity, gen, long, possible implied past torture or non-con.)

In Sacrifices Made (http://blackchaps.livejournal.com/261672.html), Woolsey (as an IOA representative in the Elizabeth era) is not exactly helpful, seeming more determined to set a hard example than to understand what might be going on. 53k words, eventual McShep, explicit.

And Rodney is vocal about not being impressed by Malcolm Tunney in my Damper (http://michelel72.livejournal.com/77371.html), but that really wasn't meant to be bashing, so I don't know if it counts. (AU; Rodney/Teyla preshippy gen.)

Does the captor/torturer angle count? You've got a wide selection of irredeemably bad guys in Cages (http://www.area52hkh.net/asj/joolz/cages.php) (non-con; McShep), but again, that's more "character is a very bad guy" rather than (what I think of as) character bashing. I'd put most Kolya-as-extreme-bad-guy fics here, too.

Human Nature by Keira Marcos has Keller bashing http://keiramarcos.com/2010/02/13/human-nature/ It also has some not nice things to imply about Landry. McKay/Keller and then McKay/Sheppard 17,500 words

And, of course, her Ties that Bind series has lots of Sam Carter bashing as the early part of the series.

If you don't mind AUs, sardonicsmiley's High School Heroes Series may suit. Colonel Ellis (a character I disliked intensely in canon) is the hated figure and appears mainly in Dog Days. The whole series is here http://smiley.zonezine.net/index.html and starts about half way down the page.

Ellis is pretty easy to dislike in Diamond-Raven's Finding Home (http://www.sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=37) too.
(I'm not sure if it's to the extent of bashing though, sorry.)
