[identity profile] sarcastic-fi.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sgarecfinders
Hi!

I'm looking for a strange catagory. I have three fictions as examples, the brilliant 'Absolute Corruption' by [livejournal.com profile] cypher  and Black Helicopters by [livejournal.com profile] wizzy and again in the fantastic 'Sacrifices Made' by [livejournal.com profile] blackchaps  where everything is turned on its head by the end of the fiction. In all of these fictions I kind of felt - at some point - I was sucker punched with the truth, especially in Black Helicopters when John's intentions are revealed in the second long story of the series, and then in Absolute Corruption near the end where the tables are turned on Rodney and he finds what he thought was true isn't.

So I guess what I am looking for McShep stories that are written really well in which the reader doesn't see the twist coming. The reader gets sucker punched by something in the story. Very evocative and emotional stories, but no death-fics please. AU or canon is fine, but must be McShep even if it takes a long time to get there. Bonus points if the character is just as sucker punched as we are!

Hope some people have some good suggestions for me! I'm pretty open minded about fic and have read a lot so hoping there are some great ones I have missed out there!

Remorse (http://archiveofourown.org/works/31984) by [livejournal.com profile] michelel72. ~18,500 words, not McShep (gen) but such a good twist story you should really read it if you hadn't already.

Judas Doesn't Answer (http://www.eternalvox.net/auburn/judasdoesn'tanswer.html) by [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna. Plenty of clues, but it's grippingly written, and, oh, the last line. ~70,000 words

a hub for the wheel'd universe (http://community.livejournal.com/mcsmooch/114370.html#cutid1) by [livejournal.com profile] bussaiko - but avoid the warnings and after do make sure you read (either or both of the different (http://telesilla.livejournal.com/704200.html#cutid1) direction (http://community.livejournal.com/casa_mcshep/21274.html)) sequels so it will fit your request.

This may or may not count as death fic.

I have six fics tagged on Delicious for Twist Ending + SGA". I tag for deathfic (most of my tags are spoilers), but in this fandom, sometimes death isn't really dead....

umm, sorry, just re-read your request. Pls disregard above rec (though I won't say why, as it will spoil the story for anyone else who hasn't read it)
