Rodney + emotional crisis = fic

Hi everyone,

I've been seeing a lot of fics lately where Rodney/team help John through an emotional crisis or trauma. I'd love to read the opposite. John and/or team help *Rodney* through an emotional crisis or trauma. The more h/c, the better.

Crisis can have accompanying whump, but it doesn't have to. AUs welcome. Gen, het, slash, whatever, just let me know which is which, if you don't mind.

Hey, the first several fics I have for this category are by you! "Snapped", "Break", "Rest for the Weary" ... heh.

Some of these are less on-point than others, but here are quite a few from my tags:

Ellex's We Who Don't (http://ellex42.livejournal.com/56917.html) has Sam taking a moment after "Pegasus Project" to make sure Rodney's okay after "Grace under Pressure". Gen, 713.

De Profundis (http://agentotter.livejournal.com/233344.html) has Sam visiting to make sure Rodney's okay after "Grace Under Pressure". Gen, witty, 6k.

Not sure if this one quite fits: The Secret Life of Scientists (http://yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/000082.html) has a brief scene of Radek comforting Rodney in a moment in which the constant, unending stress breaks through; the fic in general has to do with that stress among the scientists and how they cope, especially the support network of Rodney, Radek, and Kate Heightmeyer. McKay/Beckett, 9k, AU of the last part of "The Siege".

The first story I thought of on seeing your search was Catalysis (http://www.fantasi.net/catalysis.html), in which Rodney is deeply traumatized by events that are slowly revealed. John takes him to stay with Jeannie, and John slowly works to help Rodney start recovering (with the help of the Millers). McShep first-time, long.

No Good Deed (http://blackchaps.dreamwidth.org/285627.html) has Rodney putting right a wrong; he's pretty broken, and he's tired of friends who make fun of him, but most everyone works to help him out. McShep first-time, 18k.

In Plain English (http://www.thestade.com/js8.html) has John and Rodney quibbling over a post-action report detailing Rodney's capture and torture. Gen.

38 Minutes without You (Would Be an Eternity) (http://gila.faking-sanity.net/stargate/38minutes.html) has John and Radek trying to help Rodney. McKay/Beckett, dark, character death.

In the Greenwood Shade (http://crimsonclad.livejournal.com/124006.html) has everyone treating Rodney gently after John's disappearance ... and "everyone" ends up including a talking frog. Really. McShep fairy-tale fusion.

Lost and Found (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4804490/1/Lost_and_Found) has Rodney showing post-traumatic signs after a mission gone bad, and John taking action to help him ... only it goes a bit wrong. Gen.

Grounded (http://spuffyduds.livejournal.com/121359.html) has Rodney unable to sleep after learning he drowned in the first pass of the expedition, and John trying to help. McShep, 2k.

City of Sorrows (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4165679/1/City_of_Sorrows) is set post-rescue-of-Teyla-and-Torren and has Rodney falling into depression; John and Jennifer try to help. (I knew Tazmy had something for this, but I kept confusing this one and one of yours.) It's a vignette, and the ending is not really everything's-better.

Why Are You Here (http://community.livejournal.com/physics_flyboys/8636.html) has Teyla briefly comforting a deeply traumatized Rodney, and John later tries as well. Sort of. Gen, I think; dark, character death.

Wit's End (http://www.lupous.net/sga/wits.htm) starts light but gets dark at moments. John tries to help Rodney, hampered by the fact that only Rodney knows what's going on. Gen, 19k, elements that would be warnings except for the nature of the plot.

Rest for the Weary (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/873688.html) has Rodney fleeing the good intentions of everyone trying to help him; John finds a better way. Gen, 2k, references to imprisonment, flashbacks, agoraphobia.

Oops, missed one: Sunlight on Broken Things (http://frith-in-thorns.livejournal.com/6217.html). Post-"Eye", 2k, whump plus comfort, gen.

LOL... "Rest for the Weary" and "Lost and Found" are mine, too. I never realized I wrote so many fics on th same theme! :) But I'm ecstatic that you like those fics (and the others you mentioned) enough to rec them!

Okay, wow, it's kinda sad that I screened for your fics and then included one of the same ones. (I was going back and forth through my list and clearly got a little punchy.) And I had "Lost & Found" mistagged, so thanks for the correction (oh, Delicious, making it easy to tab-select the wrong match from a similar start string ...).
