Daniel in Atlantis...

I've read several Daniel-in-Atlantis fics, but I have yet to see one where Daniel is actually there to be in charge. WHAT. That is a terrible shame! Daniel would love being in Atlantis, and John would probably love having him in charge because he'd just be like "what? sure, whatever" half the time. And the scientists would love it because he'd be like "you found an interesting and potentially dangerous artifact? AWESOME, let's see what it does!" And the SGC would be like "whatever, weird kids, we're glad you're in a whole other galaxy destroying shit instead of here." Perfection on all angles!

I'm far too amused by this and refuse to believe I'm the only one who's thought of this. Does it exist? Point me to it, y'all!

(and, okay, I'll take any Daniel in Atlantis recs, too. those are still pretty awesome.)

It sort of exists? This definitely has the whole "we're glad you're in a whole other galaxy" vibe going on. The Once Upon a Time series by Ethrosdemon. Daniel arrives in Part II. I'll warn you -- I'm never sure when I read this story whether I love it or hate it, but I keep rereading it. Also character death in Part I (haracter who dies in canon but dies in this story in a non-canon way).

Wraith Killers is awesome and has Daniel in Atlantis although he's not in charge (later he's placed as head of the "soft" sciences but the fic doesn't really deal him being in charge): http://visionsofprettyboys.com/Atlantis/WraithKillers.htm It is a slash story--turns into McSheppard and Daniel/Jack. Has moments of humor but not really a funny fic. Long fic. At the beginning of the fic, Atlantis acts like Daniel is her long lost son and McKay's response to it is hilarious.

Cameron, Vala, Daniel, Teal'c) get sent to Atlantis because the current Earth administration wants rid of them. SG1 is so perfect it rubs the Atlantis SGA (John, Rodney, Weir, Ronon, Teyla) the wrong way.......really, it's hilarious. I LOL every time I read it.

Daniel ends up head of soft sciences in (recs for the second time in a row!) Eleven Moments (http://ladyflowdi.livejournal.com/385321.html), by ladyflowdi: Really cool story from Sam's POV. After Jack's death, Sam and Daniel are both shipped off to Atlantis as a kind of 'retirement'. Right. Sam's POV is marvelously seamless and very believable. She is such an astute character - best description of how Rodney's changed EVER.

Still, I'm with you: there have to be stories where Daniel is in charge of the whole place... and it's probably people who are primarily fans of SG-1 and secondarily fans of SGA who've written them. I haven't seen any like that, and I've read a LOT of SGA fanwork, but not a lot of SG-1...

Wayyyy back in 2004 when SGA started, there was the pegasus_b community, where Daniel is only recruited by the SGC to go to Atlantis. Jack goes as well as the military head. Most of the stories are definitely not written for humour (using my name Leah I wrote one involving penguins that was, but the rest, not so much), but a lot of them are excellent. At the very least it's got Daniel in Atlantis for you. There are various branches of the AU as well, but the main one is Daniel/Rodney, with eventual Daniel/Jack and Rodney/John.
