Looking for NDEs

I would like me some John/Rodney stories where one of them dies temporarily and/or is presumed dead by the other. In other words, I would very much like me some desperation with a happy ending. If you think a story is dripping with drama before it gets to the boykissing? That's the one I'm looking for.

hm.. I can't think of any specifics off the top of my head but I CAN point at ratcreature's ever-so-helpful Del.icio.us account, and specifically the My Partner's Dead... Just Kidding! I was going to rec "But Never the Nights" & then realized its yours! (You could always read it again though!).

My other fav of this type is Oasis by blueraccoon. Part 1 is here http://blueraccoon.livejournal.com/558127.html. John actually does die in this one.

Also, how about "The Price That Life Exacts" by Cathalin? Its over at SGABigBang2008. John is presumed & declared dead.

I have two, if you don't mind self-refs. They're Rodney and John's point of view of everyone thinking Rodney got killed on a mission.

Rodney's POV: The Great Doctor McKay (http://me-ya-ri.livejournal.com/194106.html#cutid1), which isn't so angsty but does have Rodney presumed dead and fighting his way back to Atlantis on his own.

John's POV: Home In The Heart (http://me-ya-ri.livejournal.com/197576.html#cutid1), which very much does meet your criteria for presumed dead with desperation, angst and drama. Not much kissing, though.

Oh, yes, I was following that one as you posted. Completely heart-breaking, but the ending made me smile, especially because you didn't take the easy way and made them end up together. They're strangers to each other, and you acknowledged that. That's rare, and it's awesome. ♥

John is stuck in a time loop and is forced to watch Rodney die over and over again. John is sad and frustrated as you can imagine and it does eventually result in McShep. Also very good if you love protective!john.
