Dear Fandom:

Well, here it comes again, everybody - I'm crossing my fingers that New Orleans isn't hit as badly as it's been in the past.  At the same time, I'm thinking of things I can do with my students that can help them feel useful: hygiene kits, and canned food donations...

Meanwhile, I'd like to ask if anyone has some fics of our favorite characters dealing with disaster on a wide scale.  I wonder if there are any where the 'Lanteans must go and render humanitarian aid to Earth - or vice-versa.  Does anyone know of stories where the Earthers have to head to Atlantis to render basic aid?

What about offworld?  The 'Lanteans gathering and comforting survivors of Wraith attack?  Disease?  Famine?  Or, again, vice-versa... anytime the Athosians or another group must lend aid to the 'Lanteans?

Stories where Atlantis must start over as a colony of sorts, and receive help from the Athosians or others would also be much appreciated.  I'm a sucker for stories in which an alien culture becomes important, and cultural details are shared/explained.

I've just examined various Katrina music videos to show to my 8th-graders, and my soul needs a little balm.

Atlantis and the ATA Gene (Again)

Similar to ratcreature's search here, I'm looking for links where the interaction between Atlantis and the ATA users is different than the interaction between Atlantis and the non-ATA users, but in a specific way.

We just finished watching (again, for another time) "The Storm" and "The Eye" and there are a couple lines in it about how Atlantis needs ATA users to unlock its full potential. Are there any fics out there where Atlantis gets a bit... proactive... in this need? Like, the ATA users become slightly dependent on both the city itself and Ancient tech, possibly in ways they aren't even aware of until its gone? Sort of like the city needs them and they need the city. Both can survive without the other, but they reach their full potential working together and the city realizes this and wants to keep the ATA'ers for itself (letting some go offworld as long as others stay, possibly they can only be apart for X amount of time before feeling it, etc)?

Bonus points if "The Storm" and "The Eye" are catalysts for realizing this dependence and/or if it's used the explain why Sheppard, McKay and Beckett are so keen on getting back to the city after being kicked out by the Ancients.

Gen/Het/Slash is all acceptable, but please label if at all possible (just so I know what I'm getting into).
