Indulge me, beautiful people. I have this persistent hankering for John Sheppard fics featuring clowns (okay, it was the clown noncon I found last week that seduced me to the big top, I admit). Crack is fine, or slash, or gen, darkfic/deathfic/firsttime fic (OMG fisttime clown fic FTW!) or anything with: John -- and clowns. Please?

Heh. I came here *from* HP, so to me all this TV-based stuff is the Work of the Devil (mostly because I live in Japan and trying to get my hands on American TV shows is... tricky). But yeah, Harry's dad has dark, messy hair, and well. Sheppard! (There's a large crossover-theme of ATA equalling magic. Someone *not me* should make a list....)

Someone *cough*totally you*cough* should make a comparison list of just how many fandoms ATA and/or magical (HP) genes have leaked into... that would be one fun list!

Also, you in Japan with all the mangas and animes and basically stuff-of-a-geek-fangirl's-dreams - I'm soooo jealous right now.

Well, the parallels are pretty easy! Rowling's magic is genetic and inexplicable; ATA is genetic and fluffed up with pseudoscience so people don't notice that it's, basically, magic.

And the Japan thing.... Sadly, busaikko is an Old Person, and while she was into anime in her childhood days (Mach Go-go-go and Uchusenkan Yamato), right now all she knows is the stuff her Spawn like -- mostly Pokemon, Keroro Gunso, etc. But if you ever want to hear hoary tales about the days of cam-copying and genned-out vids and mimeographed zines, I'm your gal!

LOL Good to know there are some dinosaurs out there to let us uppity brats know that there was fandom before the electronic age. ;-)

Seriously, my first "fannish" reading was a Batman stories book, and I grew up on comics my father liked; I only learnt of animes and mangas when I was well into my teens, and only liked them after that. ...Other than Toriton (Triton) and Granzort, which I grew up on. It's scary to remember that at one point in my childhood I knew as many English exclamation words as Japanese!

Heh! Mind you, I didn't know that the anime I saw on TV was Japanese: everything was dubbed. Just like a lot of little kids think that Disney is Japanese, because all the characters and songs are Japanese, and Disneyland is in Tokyo....

I wouldn't go back to the Old Fan Ways, though: the internet has done wonderful things to bring the community together. *links arms and sings filk of love and devotion*
