Hi folks,

Just wanted to give y'all a heads up that lavvyan has been appointed co-moderator of this comm, and has written up a nice set up community rules which she will be enforcing from now on. Welcome, lavvyan; hope your reign is a calm and orderly one. ;-)

You can find The Rules on the comm's profile page; please go over them carefully so you don't get any surprises when they are enforced.

Hi hon - just in case you're not keeping track of this post, there was a note-worthy suggestion made below (http://community.livejournal.com/sgagenrefinders/156549.html?thread=963205), which I already answered (because it was there, and I couldn't resist, OK? >.< ) but I'd like your opinion as well, since you're the rule-enforcer and all that. :-)

Oh, huh. That's actually a pretty good idea, thanks for linking me to that. I'll make a post suggesting this and add it to the user info - not as a rule, but as a request. If you don't mind, that is.

Oops, no, I forgot that one; I did link it to the comm's links on the sidebar again, though. Will edit it into the list o' lists pronto.

Also, you are naturally free to do as you like with the rules; just keep me updated enough so I don't break 'em all before I realize they're there. :-)

Sorry to post on a kinda old thread now, but I just had a thought regarding the new guidelines (which are very helpful in making sure I'm doing things right, btw).

The majority of searches on here are slash, but there are also quite a number that are open as to whether they want gen, slash, het, etc. or that prefer one genre (or specific pairing) but will take others.

Especially for those who are looking through old searches before making their own, it might be really helpful (and help cut down on potentially redundant searches) if you asked that, where the request is open like that, those replying with fics specify whether the fic they're reccing is slash, gen, het, etc. A few do already, but most don't.

At any rate, maybe not helpful enough to be worth the trouble of adding it, but just an idea I thought I'd mention.

Thanks for your input; I'll bring it to lavvyan's attention as well, but I'm afraid it's not a rule easily implemented. Personally, I'd be more than happy if reccers posted the full names and author names, along with links, of stories they rec, but sometimes they don't. And warning them would most probably only result in them not reccing anymore, so. You get the idea. Any rec is better than no rec, and all that, even though your suggestion is completely sound.
