Mod announcement: This is the sgagenrefinders lj comm's backup, now with a new name!

Hi everyone,

This community (and hopefully all of its posts, comments, and tags) were backed up from sgagenrefinders.livejournal.com between last night and today by the dw importer.

About the name change: it's happened, it's a less confusing name, I hope folks will be able to find this place, and let's say no more of it unless any issues arise which we'll deal with if/when they do.

Now, some things will be broken because the importer does not know which dreamwidth usernames (and comms, etc) correspond with lj ones so don't be surprised by all the OpenID posters or random links to the lj comm; I'm doing my best to fix the latter, but will probably be hunting stray ones for a while.

If you want to join the comm here you're welcome, and I've added a new mod just so we have an extra pair of eyes on this place other than my own. (It's not a huge job with our usual number of posts lately, but spammers and trolls, and of course the need for tagging posts for folks, do occur every now and then.)

That's all I really had to say. Welcome to backup plan I guess?

Yay - so glad it went through. I guess a lot of backups are happening right now. Can I check, is it the same rules here - that this comm's just for asking about types of fics rather then individual fics? As I'm not hopeful that the 2 sga storyfinder comms will be backed up here on DW - the mods haven't responded as far as I know. There might be some value in covering all the bases here for rec requests and fic-finding, as all the comms are less active these days.

One question... When I read an older lj post here, and I want to answer the user, can I simply make my reply here on DW?

Hi, since we've just moved here and I personally really have no clue what SGA comms even exist (and are at least semi-active) on this site (as opposed to lj) let's give it a few days more and see if the sgastoryfinders mods respond. I know they're kinda around because spam tends to vanish from that comm now and then, but I've not been in communication which either of them for ages.

In case lj does go down and there's no dw-based specific search comm, we'll probably allow it, but until then let's not jump the gun. I've asked the mods of sgastoryfinders about merging or some such a few times at least over the years and they always seemed fine with doing their own thing, so we've just done ours and I took steps to make sure our members didn't post specific searches at our place, and the other mods in turn did not start welcoming recs at their place, and so peace reigned in the fandom.

I'll probably put up a modly post asking for dreamwidth-based SGA comm recs/links just so we know the layout of the fandom on this site, but right now I'm still trying to iron out some kinks due to the move so please stay tuned. I'm doing my best but a Rodney and/or Zelenka hopped up on amphetamines I'm not. :P

As to your question, technically you *can* reply to any post here, but please note that if the OP is noted as an OpenID account they *will NOT* get notified of your comment. I just tried it on one of my own modly posts, it went into the ether. The only way they would be notified is if they had a dreamwidth account, and clicked 'Track This' on every single post they made. Which you, I, or anyone else, has no way of knowing. So best presume that if it's not a modly post - all of which I'm working on getting tracking set up with proper notifications - the OpenID OP will not receive your response. The comment will be there, just no notification of it will go out.

And if I'm wrong about this and there's a way to get OpenID posted notifications without having to log out of my dreamwidth account I'd love to know about it. Right now I'm too busy to even read the dw FAQ on related subjects, I still have a couple of comms I'd like to see about backing up here.

But thanks for asking! A good question, sorry I don't have a good response for you.
