I have read many 'John is the Sentinel, Rodney is the Guide' fics but I think maybe one the other way round (Wraithbait .. strawberries in title I believe). Are they any out there with Rodney the Sentinel and John is his Guide?

It's not a Sentinel/Guide fusion, exactly, but you might enjoy Against All Odds (http://archiveofourown.org/works/119574?view_full_work=true) by ca_pierson & darkmoore (McShep, written for the 2010 Atlantis Big Bang). Reincarnates are enormously old & unimaginably powerful—together, as Sword & Shield. But every time they are reborn in human form they have to search for each other, with only human senses, knowing they may never find one other in this lifetime. All the while short-lived humans, who used to respect & love the Shield & Sword who protected & lead them, now want to kill or enslave them. It's a great story & one you'll remember again & again!
