1. Recs for longer works where the Atlantis Expedition was actually more appopriately supplied for a possibly one-way journey into totally unknown territory. Don't care who fixed things, Weir, John, Rodney, Jack, whatever. Only caveat, no John/Elizabeth or John/Teyla fics. Anything else, slash or gen is fine. I've read Keira Marcos' Iterum (you need to be a member of her site to read).

2. Did anyone ever do anything with or continue synecdochic's City on the Edge of Forever? Whether it was the original author or someone else? It is a story with that type of premise as #1 which was going to be the pilot of a series, maybe.

Litgal's Not in Kansas Anymore (http://archiveofourown.org/series/62453) series follows this model from the second story. I will say that like some others of this sort, it veers slightly over the line from "appropriately supplied" to "perfectly supplied for exactly what they find but not objectively smart for the unknown" but that's a personal nitpick.
