Rodney as Loyal Canadian
Mar. 4th, 2015 10:31 pmStargate is a show set in America so it's dominated by characters in positions of power that are American. However, I really like the idea that, while Rodney has worked/lived in America and is now part of the international expedition to Atlantis, he is still a native, and loyal, Canadian at heart. And also that, because of this, he has some form of connection to a non-American government. Are there any fics out there that have to do with this? Specifically, I'm looking for fics that deal with Rodney being influenced by, or having an influence over, Canadian politics/politicians/laws/etc. And if the American members of the SGC or Atlantis senior staff disagree with or don't appreciate this influence, that's even bettter. Anybody know anything like that? Thanks.

Date: 2015-03-06 08:56 pm (UTC)Actually, I thought of another one that might sorta fit. As with the first, it's not the main story, but there's bits of it throughout if I remember correctly.
Title: What Might Have Been
Author: Keira Marcos
Fandom: Stargate: SGA & SG1
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
"This is an alternate universe series in that Rodney McKay never went to Atlantis, the mission failed within it’s first two years and John Sheppard finds himself back on Earth as the second in command of Stargate Command under the leadership of Major General Jack O’Neill. Characters from the Atlantis series and the original SG1 series will figure prominently in all of the novellas in this series. McShep and many other pairings throughout."

(I think it's okay with the author that I linked directly to the story page. I couldn't find anything about please-donts on the front page.)
