I'm looking for stories where Rodney does what he has to despite his fear, also any stories where his courage is recognised by one or all of the people around him. McShep preferred but I'll happily read anything.

Very late to the party but just saw this post!

sholio is awesome for this with John and Rodney/team friendship:

Running On Empty (http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/running.shtml) has John and Rodney dropped separately on a culled world as Runners. Has Rodney delibrately pulling himself together to face his Wraith pursuers with the little that he has to hand.

That Which Is Broken (http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/broken.shtml) has Rodney making a leap of faith in himself, risking his life for the chance to save himself and his team. All without letting on to his team what he's doing. Post-Trinity as well!

Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (http://www.sholiofic.com/sga/deepbluesea.shtml) is post return to Pegasus. What Jennifer had hoped was an opportunity to get to a comfortable relationship with her boyfriend's best friend turns into Rodney having to go alone against, well, Zombies while Jennifer looks after an injured John. The radio conversation/infirmary scene (trying not to totally spoil it here!) are perfect for your prompt IMHO.

From Blue Shadowdancer there is Not With A Bang (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4971903/1/Not-With-A-Bang) where Rodney, trapped alone in a crawlspace when the Wraith successfully take the Daedalus, has only one plan that he can use to defeat them. Problem is, it's going to kill him too! Friendship fic.

Finally from tipper_green there is Failure To Communicate (http://megtipper.tripod.com/failure.htm). Another friendship fic with Rodney and John trying to distance themselves from each other and everyone else post-Siege. Not that it works and Rodney ends up totally destroying an OC's perception of him as cowardly and self-serving when he literally works himself into the ground to save his friends, despite being seriously injured.
