"Midway" tags and Sheppard-loving marines?

Hi all.

I'm looking for any "Midway" tags (I feel like I've read them all, but I'd love to give them a reread even if that is the (unfortunate) case. Ideally, stories that involve Sheppard, Mckay, and Co. in the Jumper waiting to be rescued. Shep!whump is always good (as in, he got a little more banged up in the midway station than we saw), but I'll take anything dealing with those guys. Preferably gen, preslash, or light slash (ie nothing above pg13 due to...erm...romantic qualities...? I'm in an innocent mood today!

I'd also love any stories featuring the marines loving/caring about/worrying about/respecting Sheppard. Really anything featuring the marines interacting with Sheppard. Again, I feel like I've read all these (I've trawled ff.net, wraithbait, delicious, this community, etc), but I'd love to reread the greats of the genre.

Just Like the Richard Gere Movie takes place before the expedition leaves for Atlantis. It's very short, but I think you'd like it all the same. miss_porcupine has written an entire series about the military on Atlantis, and there are a few pieces that talk about Sheppard (and his team) - I haven't read everything she's written, though, so I can't tell you how many focus on John. The rest of her stuff can be found here. All of it is gen.

I love her stuff. A lot of it has John in the background, but present.

I really enjoy her look at the military side of Atlantis and what sort of attitudes the Marines might have toward Sheppard. Not hero worship, but what I think would be a realistic mix of awe, bafflement and a kind of abstract 'he's ours' sentiment. I don't think the series or the command structure leave room for any actual closeness between Sheppard and the average Marine though, except maybe in Season 1.

I confess when reading gen fic I like the focus to be on John and/or Rodney, since they're my favorite characters. But I've always meant to read her military fics - I've just never found the time to. The series really focuses on the command staff of Atlantis, and I imagine having their CO hang around often would just make the average Marine uncomfortable. But I like to think that every now and then John will join them on the shooting range or for a game of basketball, or whatever. The scene in "Whispers" where he didn't know he had an all-female offworld team just seems OOC to me.
