Marines Defending John

I'm looking for fics where SGC Marines are defending John to non-SGC Marines (or possibly even other SGC Marines that were never on Atlantis), because the non's have issues with John being Air Force. I'm mainly looking for the Air Force angle, but wouldn't turn down fics that have other factors that are the problem, for example, John's service history, perceived slouch attitude, etc. Pairing doesn't matter or is even strictly necessary. Hmm. There are a bunch of fics where Marines admire Sheppard and/or support him against the IOA or scientists (Five times John’s men were proud to have him as a CO (http://community.livejournal.com/sg1_five_things/176332.html) and I Hope this Song will Guide you Home (http://teh-helenables.livejournal.com/47319.html)). Even fics where they end up surprised that he's not just a lame fly-boy ( Custer's Last Stand (http://www.offpanel.net/dmz/sga/custer.html), An Inland Soul to the Sea (sg1_five_things: Five times John’s men were proud to have him as a CO), Lost and Found (http://reen212000.livejournal.com/39010.html#cutid1)) . But not so many where Marines defend him to other Marines. Maybe The New Guys by T'Pring (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3432173/1/The_New_Guys). It sort of meets your request, though not so much on the AF side. Elizabeth & Rodney (as well as the "seasoned" marines) enjoy watching John put the new marines in their place.

I'm not sure if you've read Keira Marcos or not, but a great many of her fics feature that on some level. It's almost never the main point of fiction, but it features in just about every fiction she writes. John's men LOVE him in all of her fictions, and it's just one of the many reasons I love to read her fictions. These are both pretty long.

The Ties That Bind (http://keiramarcos.com/fan-fiction-index/stargate-atlantis-fan-fiction/ties-that-bind-sga-au/) (BDSM-verse, read the warnings) has this happen several times, where the marines take it open themselves to protect both Sheppard and McKay from higher ranking officers and one particularly annoying general, because Sheppard is an amazing commander and they would follow him anywhere. It's also slightly off from your request though, as John isn't AF, USMC, but everything else is more or less the same, apart from well...BDSM verse. It's my favorite fic ever. McShep.

What Might Have Been (http://keiramarcos.com/fan-fiction-index/stargate-atlantis-fan-fiction/what-might-have-been-series-atlantis-au/) is tremendous. It's an AU. Also McShep. About what could have happened if the Atlantis expedition had to come back early, and the SGC had to declassify. It's amazing. There's two marines that routinely defend John and Rodney and sometimes John/Rodney.
