John takes care of Rodney

Hi, first post here so I hope I'm doing it right.

I read a fic the other day, smiley's 'Taking The Long Way Home', and I absolutely flailed at the part where the John who's been taking care of a Rodney damaged by the Ascension device turns up. Particularly having only just watched 'The Shrine', which held some similar themes. The protectiveness and desperation and neediness of the whole thing really did it for me, and I'm frantically looking for fic's that focus in on that idea more than 'Taking The Long Way Home' did (however much I adored that fic). It's an idea I'm thinking of using in a fic of my own, but for the time being, I really really want to read fics that focus on a Rodney (damaged?) who needs John, and John who is absolutely manic and ruthless about protecting him. McShep is preferred, but I'll take whatever I can get, parallel universes are fine, straight-out AUs somewhat hit-and-miss but for this I'll try anything.

Please? If you guys find stuff like this for me I'll love you forever.

Damn that was a fast response. 'Behold, Thy Time Was the Time of Love' pretty much made my heart feel like it was folding in on itself, but it was also awesome, so thank you :) Nonlinear System is, after a quick skim, now on my 'to read list', and Folie a Deux was absolutely fantastic, and exactly what I was looking for (also, hope at the end! yay!). For some reason, reading tight, arguably co-dependent relationships makes me happy. As to Theory of Everything, I've read it before, but this reminded me of it, so I'll be reading it again.
