I'm requesting, not only for myself, but for my friend who's become curious about the SGA fandom. I'm looking for the most epic length, really well written McKay/Sheppard fics. Your favorite recs would be awesome. Any warning (mpreg, non-con, etc), any genre (au, romance, etc.), anything goes. We pretty much read anything. (^_-)

Please and thank you!

The SGA Big Bang has many, many epic lengthed fics.

Recently there was the Atlantis Big Bang.

Here's my delicious tag for mcshep + length:long, though I should warn you that "long" to me is 10,000+ words, so some won't qualify for "epic length". I'm constantly updating too.

Indelible (http://archiveofourown.org/works/120496?view_full_work=true), by [livejournal.com profile] shaenie is ~129,000 words of epic McShep goodness.

Freedom's Just Another Word for Nothing Left to Lose (http://www.kekkai.org/synecdochic/sga/freedoms_just_another_word.html) by Image (http://synecdochic.dreamwidth.org/profile)synecdochic (http://synecdochic.dreamwidth.org/) is, with its sequel and the band's playing "hail to the chief" (http://www.kekkai.org/synecdochic/sga/and_the_bands_playing.html) only add up to about ~23,500 words but it feels epic, and there's [livejournal.com profile] cesperanza's Written by the Victors (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/cesper/Victors.html) which is ~52,000 words (plus addenda (http://trickster.org/speranza/cesper/victorsverse.html)) of McShep and other pairings. But although these are both deservedly McShep classics, I, like others, would recommend reading them after you've read a few dozen/hundred other SGA fics, to be able to fully appreciate what makes these so special.

[livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna has several epic length McShep fics that are really well done (she also does great alien-culture worldbuilding, as does [livejournal.com profile] mirabile_dictu, if that's something you like). Judas Doesn't Answer (http://www.eternalvox.net/auburn/judasdoesn'tanswer.html) (~75,700 words)is thrillery goodness, The Water Grinds the Stone (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=18) is epic epic SG-1 crossover decades-of-future-fic (~242,700 words), Gypsies Tramps and Thieves (http://www.eternalvox.net/auburn/spacepirates.html) is a space-pirate SG-1 crossover semi-AU (~181,000 words), and there's more (http://www.eternalvox.net/auburn/fiction.html#atlantis-fic).

[livejournal.com profile] maisierita's Forget Me Not (http://maisierita.livejournal.com/14509.html) is probably the most epic McShep amnesia-fic. ~47,000 words.

[livejournal.com profile] velocitygrass and [livejournal.com profile] taste_is_sweet both do sweet (with some angst) McShep romance stories very well, both have longer fics or series.

Also, a self-pimp: my (Newer) SGA Readers Guide (http://skaredykat.livejournal.com/1083.html) lists a ton of excellent rec lists, and some McShep (http://skaredykat.livejournal.com/1083.html#cutid3) and non-McShep (http://skaredykat.livejournal.com/1083.html#cutid6) fics that are (to my mind) outstanding SGA fics. Also, any of the stories listed in my recs posts (http://skaredykat.livejournal.com/5638.html) are top favorites, most are McShep, and some should fit epic-length. :)

And a few earlier searches that might offer you more great stories you'd like:

And I couldn't resist adding a few more that popped into my head as soon as I hit post on the earlier comment (though they duplicate recs below and in some of the other posts. Which may not be a bad thing -- when I started reading SGA fics I initially pretty much just poked around various rec-lists, and started with stories recced on more than 2 or 3 lists, figuring if different people really liked them they were probably well-written examples of their genre. ;)

Two of my favorites from the early years, both by [livejournal.com profile] astolat. Pretty much, anything by Shalott (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/#Stargate:%20Atlantis) is going to be good.

Transcendental (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/transcendental.html) 45,700 words. The one where something happens to Weir, and Rodney takes over as leader of Atlantis.

A Beautiful Lifetime Event (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/lifetime_event.html) 29,500 words. One of the classics. John and Rodney have a baby together. Not an mpreg!

Raiders is awesome but gen. I don't think any of Ltlj's long stories are McKay/Sheppard; there's a bit of them being involved in the Retrograde verse, but they aren't exclusive and it's primarily a gen series.

Hi there. :)

I'm honoured and flattered as anything that my name was included in this recs list. Forgive me if you already contacted me for a fic list (since that link goes to my LJ where I don't post fanfiction), but if not, here's a list of where you can find my stories:

At the Wraithbait Archive (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewuser.php?uid=3). Please check the small bio box for links to stories I've written as Taste_is_Sweet and co-authored. Not all of them are epic length, but you might enjoy Balcony Sessions (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=9), which is a series of connected stories, and the Scruffy AI (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewseries.php?seriesid=114) series. [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan started that but let me write my own version of her stories. She's an excellent author as well, with links from her LJ.

Any fic I might not have put on Wraithbait is here (http://leahwoof.livejournal.com/), in the LJ I share with [livejournal.com profile] springwoof, who's recced here as well. She's written other stories, including excellent epic length ones that you can read here (http://www.wraithbait.com/search.php).

Someone else already mentioned The Sacrificial Mage, which is only up at [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa. :)

Enjoy!

Oops, I didn't think to check whether there was a link to your fic up in your LJ profile for taste_is_sweet (which is your LJ that I link to, as in my mind that's what your newer stories -- like The Ones You Leave Behind -- are filed under). Many of the other writers by whom I rec more than one story in a post at this comm seem to have a link to their AO3 works or fic journal in their LJ profile page or a masterlist or fic tags somewhere fairly findable in the LJ, so sometimes I'm lazy and just link to their LJ -- but here I got lazy and didn't check whether you did too, sorry! So thank you for providing the various links to your longer fics. :)

You're very welcome, and please don't apologize! I know I'm an odd duck for not having fic linked from my LJ, so I don't mind supplying links. But all my fic except for my stories at [livejournal.com profile] john_farr and The Sacrificial Mage at [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa are under either Leah or Taste_is_Sweet at Wraithbait.com (http://www.wraithbait.com/index.php). :D
