More Rodney

Hi everybody!

I have two requests, and the only thing they really have in common is Rodney.

1) I've read stories where someone, usually Rodney, mistakes John for something he's not (nanny, receptionist, etc). Are there any stories where somebody thinks Rodney is something he's not? It doesn't have to be the whole fic.

2) Are there any stories where someone is trying to "control" Rodney, but they go further than intended and almost end up crushing his spirit? I'm not talking about d/s kind of thing, but mostly work, family, or social setting. So the people around him are trying to curb his behaviour or what have you, but they go too far, and either he rebels or they notice what they've done. Again, doesn't have to be the main plot of the story.

Any pairing, slash or gen, is okay. Hopefully the stories end on a happy or optimistic note.

These are the two that immediately came to mind as something you might like for request #2. The first recc deals with the fallout of Arcturus where they feel Rodney has gotten too sure of himself and out of control. They try to bring him down a few pegs without really understanding what effect their new rules and regulations for Rodney are actually doing to him.

The second one is an AU story where Rodney has a secret. When the team finds out, they try to get him to embrace what they view as a gift. Rodney's made sure to hide this condition his entire life, so not only baring it to the world but the team asking him to use it readily stresses him emotionally.

My summary: AU where Rodney has gills and a situation forces him to reveal this fact to his team. What follows is him and the team coming to grips with Rodney having made this revelation. These are awesome suggestions. I don't think I read the first one, but I've read the second, and it was a fantastic story that I'm definitely going to read again. Not sure if I read the sequel, though.

Ah, you got me for a moment there. For a moment I thought someone found something for #1. ;)
Thank you for the rec. I'm pretty sure I read it, but it ended with this part. I was so distraught about it that I started setting things on fire and knocking plants over and whatnot. I'm guessing that it hasn't been continued yet. It's a good story, so I'll likely read it again. :-)

Yes, it's a rather upsetting story, but in a good way :)
