Sheppard and Caldwell

I'm looking for fics where Sheppard and Caldwell have a less hostile/hateful relationship. Not a romantic or sexual relationship, more friendship, fondness, respectful, brotherly, or even paternal. Bonus points for stories where Caldwell is protective of Sheppard, especially if Sheppard is ill/injured. No specific paring/romance required.

There's a very short bit in astolat's Time in a Bottle (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/time_in_a_bottle.html) where (after Lorne is a jerk) Caldwell is surprisingly pleasant. McShep, ~14,400 words.

In The Mute Shepherd (http://www.alyse.info/sesa_files/TheMuteShepherd.htm) by auburnnothenna, Caldwell gives his colonel's insignia to Sheppard when they're both promoted. It's a short scene but meaningful.

I've read that one before, but hadn't saved it. I remember liking that part of it a lot but I'm not sure if I liked the rest of the plot/story. I'll have to give it another shot. Thanks for posting.

If you want to be reminded of more about it, it's about John failing to say anything when Cameron Mitchell gets interested in Jennifer Keller, leading to Keller and Rodney breaking up. It's ultimately McKay/Sheppard and has a lot of angst.

I skimmed it and I mostly remember it. I think the reason it didn't thrill me when I read it was the fact that I was reading it for the McShep and it took so long to get there. You know how sometimes you go into cycles of reading and searching out specific types of fic and kind of let the rest fall to the wayside.

Atlantis is abandoned by Earth. Caldwell and his crew attempt to help Atlantis stock up on supplies and after the last trip the Daedalus crashes on a planet after being attacked and Sheppard and co. rescue them. Sheppard and Calwell are friendly and show great respect for each other.

I think I've read the first but I don't remember it well enough to definitively say one way or another.

The Second I know I've read and I really liked it, I have it tagged for updates. I don't remember there being a whole lot of Caldwell-Sheppard interaction. I know Caldwell was sympathetic to their cause but I thought his dealings were more with all of the command staff rather than just Sheppard.

Yeah, they don't have a lot of interaction in that one but when they are it is friendly and respectful on both sides. In the second part don't know what will happen in future updates but would like to see more of the two of them interacting when Earth reestablishes contact with Atlantis now that they've gotten those two asshats out of Homeworld Security and the SGC.

I get what you mean. It's a good story, I was just in the mood for something a bit more.

There must have been an update semi recently, or I wouldn't still have it tagged. I tend to give up after a year of no updates. The author has a her own page where everything is posted, I've noticed it goes there first. Plus they just started a new SGA/Sentinel fusion, which I really like.

Have you read any of ShepsReyna (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1392830/ShepsReyna)'s "Evander's Heir" series? IIRC, Caldwell & Sheppard have a mutual respect or shortly develop one. Gen, with eventual John/Teyla Pairing.
