John's Father/Mother was an Ancient

Just finished reading a story where Janus was John's father. It was a well done story, but the revelation of the identity of his actual father, and what was left to him by that father, wasn't a big part of the story.

The idea so intrigued me I had to rush over here and ask for some suggestions of stories that handled it differently. I would be pathetically grateful if a few recs could be tossed my way, of stories in which John's father or mother were revealed to be an ancient.

P.S. Not necessarily a requirement per say but I prefer McShep stories

The best match for your search, that I've read, is "Haven't To Deserve" (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/845057.html) by mad_maudlin.

Another possibility might be "A Final Awakening" (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/303002.html) by smittywing, but it might be a bit of a stretch, although the events in the story seem to imply such.

The main focus of the story is what if Rodney went with John to his father's funeral, the Janus part was a minor (to my utter disappointment, as I said above). It had so much potential. I honestly was more intrigued and interested in that part than anything else. The story was well written though, so it wasn't a hardship to read.

That is a GREAT suggestion. I liked "Ashtaroth" (just read it again the other day), so I'll probably find a bunch of good ones. Though he is actually an Ori in that one, but still...

I almost gave up on PFOK until the "I'm not you're real father, and that's why I didn't really love you" letter. I got so annoyed when the reveal was put off until near the end and didn't factor into the plot more.

Though in that vein there was a story I read last week on FFN that was about John's father meeting the president, and thinking it was because of his own achievements, but in reality was because the president want to meet the man who fathered John Sheppard. It had a fantastic part where the president basically tells him that John is doing something far greater than just running his father's company and that he should give up on waiting for John to "return to the fold" so to speak.

Could you please edit the wording of your post so it sounds less like you're complaining about the story in question and more being inspired by it post this search?
