[identity profile] csad21.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sgarecfinders
Hi, guys :)

I have an unusual request. We know that the SGA guys and girls are really geeks at heart. That's something fanfics underline all the time, with inserting references to Doctor Who, Star Wars, Star Trek, Superman...

Because of this, and because of how we fans love to see our favorite characters in insane situations, it occurred to me, that surely there must be fanfictions where the insanely improbable, if not outright impossible happens and the SGA characters meet Doctor Who/Superman/etc. And by that I don't mean a real crossover or fusion, but honest to goodness insanity. They meet, for example, Superman, a purely comic book character, and Rodney almost has a seizure because of the *impossibility* of it all. Or Luke Skyewalker, or Spock and Kirk, or The Doctor, or Batman... need I go on?

It doesn't even need to be fully crack, it can be a serious story, as long as the improbability is emphasised and there's a very good reason for this to happen at all. But I'm just assuming that such a story would be rather in the crack category.

My question therefore is: Can anyone tell me where to find such fanfiction gems? The pairing doesn't matter, it can be gen/slash/het/femmeslash, whatever, though I'm rather partial to McShep.

Thank you in advance for any and all help :)

The one that instantly leapt to mind is [livejournal.com profile] amireal's Where Did All the Physics Go? (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=3803), crossover with Star Trek TOS. McKay/Sheppard

okay, that might be interesing. Is it only mcshep or is there a TOS pairing? If there is a TOS pairing, which one is it?

bromance, yes. But since I'm a Spock/McCoy OTP! kind of person... well, I just can't read Kirk/Spock so avoid anything that has more than bromance/friendship for them. I'm weird that way.

No TOS pairings, but a lot of strong friendships.

Is this the sort of thing you mean?

Who? by MrsHamill - perhaps not as "insane" as you require but Doctor Who ripping ancient tech to bits is always good.
http://www.hawksong.com/~thammill/SGA_Fic/who.htm

Play the music, Light the lights by deltacephei - well, not wanting to spoil the crack, but muppets.

Five instances where Rodney McKay declined an opportunity - Perphaps not crack, but certainly worth a read.

amireal's "Where Did All the Physics Go?" linked above is the one that jumps instantly to mind.

Unfortunately (so it doesn't match your request), Atlantis takes a visit by the muppets in stride without commenting on how insane it is in Take Atlantis (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_flashfic/640910.html) by [livejournal.com profile] siegeofangels.

Rodney does note how completely improbable his being picked up by Serenity is in The Big Bang and Everything After (http://mandysbitch.livejournal.com/180373.html) by [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch. (SGA/Firefly, Rodney/River)

There might be some you like in this earlier request (http://community.livejournal.com/sgagenrefinders/639827.html), though it was about out-there or improbable crossovers that were really well-written, not about the characters noting how improbable it was...

For just plain cracky, some of the SGA/BSG crossovers mentioned in this post (http://community.livejournal.com/sgagenrefinders/721312.html) (kHo, hackthis, liketheriver) score high.

you're welcome/happy reading!

Last, if you want more, [livejournal.com profile] sgversetop5 had a slew of all-time-favorite Stargate crossover (http://community.livejournal.com/sgversetop5/tag/genre:%20crossover) and fusion (http://community.livejournal.com/sgversetop5/tag/genre:%20fusion) recs earlier in the year which could point you to some additional well-written "shoulda been impossible" examples. :)

I tag for crossovers (http://delicious.com/dossier1013/sga+crossover), though sg1 is 289 of the some 548 listings. 213 fusions, too (http://delicious.com/dossier1013/sga+fusion) if that interests you.

heh, go for it. the more the merrier, I say. That's about 4 years worth of bookmarks, though I don't have very much in the way of het/femmeslash.
