Give me your recs! Well-known, obsure, totally-off-the-wall, what have you! I am in the mood for "Taking Back Atlantis!" stories. To my mind, this category can include anything & everything in the way of:

1. Our home crew got kicked out by someone. Example: the Ancients, à la "The Return";

2. They're raided by another Pegusus population like the Genii, à la "The Storm/The Eye", & kicked out or held prisoner either in or out of the city;

3. Invasion by someone completely random, non-canon, pre-canon, Alt 'Verse, etc, & kicked out or held prisoner either in or out of the city;

4. Forced to call it quits thanks to the yahoos on Earth, & having to abandon the city in Pegasus. Adds particular difficulty if they try to get back without authorization. Has anyone ever written something where they hijack a ship or the SGC's gate? With authorization is fine, too, though;

5. EARTH tries to steal Atlantis from them - it deserves a special mention since I'd read & loved the Retrograde Series since it's original appearance, and there might be similar fic I'd like to see;

6. Evacuating under threat of natural disaster à la "The Storm" would work, too. Having to come back and sort out the mess left in the aftermath would be a cool little slice-of-life;

7. Some sort of internal problem with the city which means they've got to leave. If she's not safe, like her systems are turning against the inhabitants (à la "The Intruder"), or standard exploration released/freed another deadly experiment/creature/etc. the Ancients were toying with and failed to label appropriately yet again ("Hot Zone"/"Hide And Seek"), or simply that they've lost the necessary power to keep her going & it's no longer feasible to their continued survival to remain (though this last requires they end up acquiring that power eventually, of course);

8. Post-Finale, as well, with the entire taking back Atlantis to the Pegasus Galaxy thing, with or without permission.

Caveat: As to genre, anything pretty much goes - and though death!fic makes me reach for my meds I can read it. However, the category is supposed to be pretty positive, to my mind, so . . . nothing too dark, yeah? It isn't the "Losing Atlantis" bit I'm interested in, but the getting her back parts. Relationship-wise, I'm a McKay/Sheppard OTP-er way back from the starting buzzer, & nothing has put a dent or even a ping in that conviction, however delightful & well-crafted a story may be. Gen & Team would be wonderful, too, though I shriek with dismay and flee from Het as quick as my skates can take me.

Thanks a mil for any recs!

Okay, so, if you've actually read though this ridiculously persnickety request, congratulations! You have an attention span longer than the mutant hybrid offspring of a squirrel and a goldfish that watches TV infomercials. (How's my McKay-esque snark?)

Not all that appropriate, in this case, as your post really is tl;dr - if you don't want to shorten it down would you please at least put your plot suggestions under a cut? As this isn't a story request comm folks will be reccing the closest matching stories anyway, and listing all the possible scenarios you can think of does not actually help. A good, solid but not over-cluttered description of what you want, does. (I myself wasn't clear on who should be 'taking back Atlantis' from whom till your first suggestion.)

The tl;dr version: short and to the point or use an lj-cut, please. :-)

I don't know what the retrograde series is but have you read Written By The Victors by Speranza, be warned it does feature marriage of convenience between John/Teyla but is McShep to the core and very very good.

Auburn's Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves is my new favorite in this genre.
