Hi!

After reading [livejournal.com profile] melyanna's amazing story Welcome to the 38th Parallel, I found myself with a sudden craving for war!AUs and was disappointed to find that most of those recommended here are McShep stories. [livejournal.com profile] melyanna was so kind as to supply me with links to some of her stories and to an epic Spanish Civil War/Berlin Airlift AU by [livejournal.com profile] freifraufischer but I keep wondering if those authors (and myself) are the only ones having written non-McShep war!AUs. So... if you have any stories that fulfill the following requirements, please be so kind and link them to me:

  • no McShep (and I mean it... seriously)
  • preferably no other slash either, although I probably wouldn't mind light femmeslash
  • gen or het are both okay
The stories can be about historical wars (no preference here... but because I'm curious if [livejournal.com profile] melyanna and [livejournal.com profile] freifraufischer are the only ones who concentrated on other conflicts than WWII I'd award bonus points to everyone who linked me something that doesn't involve WWII ;)) or contemporary wars (like [livejournal.com profile] amitee's Old Soul Song (for a New World Order)) or maybe even future wars (although I'm not really in the mood for apocafics... and yes, of course I know about [livejournal.com profile] miss_porcupine's Qui Habitat).

Also
, there will be extra bonus points for people who manage to find stories that involve Lorne/Cadman (no matter if friendship, UST or full-fledged romance) or stories that involve either Lorne or Cadman with either big supporting roles or as leads.

Curious to see what people will say ;)

Gen!Fic. Well researched, team story set during WWII in Papua New Guinea. Not only does the story sweep you in, it actually includes both Teyla and Ronon with plenty of agency of their own and without ignoring the racism of the era. Lorne is also a supporting character. Seriously, one of the best AUs out there.

The fandom Gods have recently decreed that fiction based on such conflicts exploitive and self-serving and your request might be considered homophobic.

Eh, the list of allowable plot topics is very narrow these days.

This is itty-bitty (only 242 words), but it's still pretty cool. Cadman/Lorne, written for this prompt: "Cadman/?, period fic(civil, WWl, or WWll era), Cadman dresses as man to go to war"

[livejournal.com profile] siriaeve's may learned be by cyphers (http://siria.dreamwidth.org/259493.html) is set in Bletchley Park in World War II; I don't know if that's quite what you're looking for. Rodney/Teyla.

There's also [livejournal.com profile] wildcat88's Wirepullers (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_genficathon/39879.html), also set in WWII but in the US. Gen.

I have a war-based story with Lorne as a lead; it's not historical. It's a current timeline and involves the capture of McKay, Lorne, and Lorne's team by the baddies from Daedalus Variations.

Here. (http://skinscript.livejournal.com/tag/f:%20whipping%20boy)
