Okay, so I'm watching the Documentary "Step into Liquid" (I highly recommend it to everyone. It's one of my favourite documentaries ever) and I am struck by the need to read some "John goes surfing" or "John teaches McKay/The Team to Surf" fics.

Mcshep is my prefered pairing but gen is good too. AU's are LOVE. Thanks ahead of time everyone!

Oasis (http://blueraccoon.livejournal.com/558127.html) by blueraccoon, McShep; after an incident with a weird ancient device and John's miraculous re-appearance among the living Rodney unwittingly outs them to all of Atlantis and because of DADT and such they decide to leave for Earth together. Also known as the angsty McShep relationship settling in with a nice beach house in California thrown into the mix; surfing might happen in the background? Maybe? I decided that it's close enough, anyway.

Summary: Sheppard goes surfing and doesn't have amnesia.

Radek goes to a sleepy beach town to visit with his sister and encounters pilot/surfer!Lorne; romantic togetherness is had, and while Radek's sitting on the beach Lorne even surfs a bit. ;-)

The list turned much less precise than I had intended, but I hope you find something you like among this bunch. (Now I really have an urge to make a surfing that, but no justified excuse. Darn.)

(P.S. There was several mentions of Rodney procuring surfboards for the Team in Tira Nog's Resilience (http://www.thisiskatya.com/tira_nog/resilience.html), but I haven't read it yet so can't vouch for actual surfing taking place. Woobie!Rodney and McShep, that much I know.)

You are now my favourite person EVER. The one's that don't actually contain surfing are good too. Mostly this is me reading to try and slay the plot bunny where John is a big wave surfer and Rodney is his Ski driver. *headdesk* which I totally don't need to write since I am stuck in the middle of a Farm AU.

Farm AUs are good too, but nothing wrong with another surfer!John AU, either. *shelves that bunnie firmly for you* You can always revisit it after you're done with your current story.

Which I can't wait to read, now, as you've reminded me that I've been thinking of Rodney on a farm -owning, working, whatever- AUs and that if no new ones appear I'll really have to make an effort to dig the sole Rodney-inherits-a-farm(-and-John-on-it) fic I remember but have only read once so far. (Terrible oversight, I know.)

Anyways, you're very welcome for the recs; these are just some of the stories I've read, there's probably more out there, but Crossroads has been down again so I couldn't check there.
