Letter fics? Or Long Distance?
Jul. 4th, 2010 07:11 pmHey guys
I've gone a ways back on the comm looking for anything in either of these genres- and I found one or two fics that are sort of close, but I thought I'd try my luck!
1. Letter fics - I'd love to see any fics in which most communication takes place via letters (or more likely emails.) They can be serious, or funny, mcshep would be awesome. But, I'm up for anything. Which brings me to-
2. Long Distance Fics- Fics in which Rodney and John, for whatever reason, are not stationed together, and are trying to keep their relationship alive from across a distance. I found a few labeled separation fics, but they were kept separated for a long period of time- and I was really looking for something where they were at least trying to make it work, even if its just visits. Who knows if this even exists, but I thought I'd try.
Thanks in advance for anything you might have for me! You guys are amazing.

[The story has a sequel, too: Christmas at the Millers' by Fia Reynne - John and Rodney spend the holidays on Earth, with Rodney's family. Each of them bonds with the Millers in their own way.]

Date: 2010-07-05 04:14 am (UTC)I love love love letters - written communication in all its forms, really - in fics. So much so that I'm just going to link you to my delicious bookmarks for the appropriate (somewhat, anyway, as I lumped things a bit) tags: Letters (http://delicious.com/Belas/fandom:SGA+letters), Correspondence (http://delicious.com/Belas/fandom:SGA+correspondence), Documentation (http://delicious.com/Belas/fandom:SGA+documentation), and Diary Entries (http://delicious.com/Belas/fandom:SGA+diary_entries). There's summaries posted by each bookmark so they are somewhat self-explanatory as to viability for your search.... Pairings are either McShep or Gen!Fic with one Mitchell/Sheppard.
Just as a heads up, the stories bookmarked with the above-mentioned tags for the most part incorporate the written word in its various incarnations as part of the story; however, there are a few in there that are just the correspondence / letters / e-mails / transcriptions / mission reports.
I hope you have fun going through them.
