Coming out and AU versions.

1) Rodney and John coming out, but it's a complete surprise to their friends. I've read so much where everyone expected them to get together sooner or later. Or even assumed they already were. But I really want some fic where the revelation comes totally out of left field, as far as the others are concerned. I don't want any hostile repsponses to their relationship, though. Light teasing, acceptance, affection and maybe a little bit of awkwardness in response is what i'm looking for.

2) AU versions end up on Atlantis, but their relationship with one another is drastically different from the expedition members we already know and love that are already there. Whether they're closer or more distant, i'm open to pretty much anything. I'm particularly looking for funny, awkward and possibly enlightening situations that make canon Rodney and John revaluate their own friendship. Pairing wise, i'd like McShep, but AU versions of other characters popping up with them as well would be awesome. No mpreg, bdsm or genderswap please. Just that good ol' cliché of doubles meeting each other, like Rodney and Rod.
