Looking for 2 kinds of fic: First, stories set around the end of season 5 (before or after) where it's focused on John being lonely. Everybody's paired off and their he is in the background playing chess with Woolsey. Happy endings preferred, him finding someone- a member of his team or other Atlantis personnel (not OC's) even better

Next stories where John is at the SGC. Either with SG-1 or another team, pre-Atlantis or in an AU where it isn't found or he doesn't go. John/Carter pairing would be great because there aren't many that I've seen but any pairing or gen is fine.

2. It's kind of embarrassing- I'm sure I remember reading a whole ton of fix-it fics for the end of season 5 that fit but I can't seem to find them. Lots of lonely!John but season 5 and happy endings are eluding my searches. And- damn you- now I really want to find a fic where John's relegated to playing chess with Woolsey. Maybe I'll find something tomorrow, after I've gotten some sleep.


2) The SG-15 series: Rodney gets put on the SG team of outcasts instead of being sent to Siberia. McShep.

I've never thought much about John/Richard before, being a mostly McShep girl, but I really love the tone of this fic. There's a starkness to the way Richard sees John that brought a lump to my throat but also made both of them more tangible and present than most fics I've read. They're both seasoned in their own way and take it for what it is, without the unrealistic expectations of youth or inexperience. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, it was beautiful.

Most of what I write is McShep, but after Season 5, I just wanted John to be happy, with anyone! (Plus, the cigar-smoking scene was too hot for words *g*) Thank fou for reading. I'm glad you enjoyed the fic; Richard tended to get played for laughs in SGA, but I think he had depths, and the ability to be good for John.
