Hi, after posting a story search over at sgastoryfinders I was wondering if there any more McShep stories out there that show Bates as loyal to John whether in general or against Elizabeth fellow marines, or even just show him as basically a nice guy?

Also, after reading, Everything Changes (And You Gotta Be Ready)by temaris

I know of only 2 decent!Bates fics:

Universal Constants- Bates/Zelenka NC-17 with background McShep. I was really hesitant to read it because, well, the first sentence, but I really like the Bates here. He's in character but still manages to be likable in that bit-of-a-tight-ass way.

Semper Fidelis- Bates/Sumner PG-13 with background Sheppard/Radek (I know, not McShep but it's hardly a noticeable difference the way it's written, and honestly- Radek!) Again, I was hesitant to read but Bates has a wonderful way of looking at things and is understanding and helpful in a unique way.

I was actually kind of disappointed when I went back and realized this is all I could find, I thought for sure there had to be something where he's a part of a fic that focuses on McShep but all I could find were fics where the focus was on Bates, not the other pairing. Hope this helps, anyway.

Bates is rather capable and not a total jerk in astolat's Transcendental (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/transcendental.html) (McShep, some Teyla/Bates background UST)

He's also a pretty decent guy and loyal to John in Karen McFaddyon's A Matter of Discretion (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=15567) (McShep)
