Looking for any different worlds out there, where the rocks and trees don't prevail?

(Having said that, I realise I've read a few too many epic deserts full of angst and slavery, so, anything but that ;)

(Short deserts just looking for a good time I don't mind)

Just looking for some interesting world-building, really...

Definitely not B.C. some angst/caste stuff, but great worldbuilding: A Richer Dust Concealed (http://mirabile-dictu.livejournal.com/118181.html) by mira, McShep, ~12,100 words.

Auburn's Green Sea 'verse, first one (I think) is But the Nights Are Better out Here (http://www.eternalvox.net/auburn/butthenights.html), McShep, teamfic.

Auburn and Mira both have other fics as well that feature non-B.C.-like planets with thought-out cultures, even without desert slavery. :)

A few more:
Thousandmother (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=91) by springwoof, McShep, teamy, ~49,100 words, non-B.C.-in-spring/summer world plus aliens and aliens.

Whipping Boy (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=74) by skinscript, ~45,800 words, gen, very non-B.C.-like world, very alien culture, Lorney goodness and more.

Salt of the Earth (http://www.area52hkh.net/asd/dasha/saltof01.php) by Dasha, underground mining culture (aboveground may be B.C.-like but is barely mentioned), unrequited McShep-John&Rodney friendship, ~77,100 words.

Term of Service (http://trickster.org/res/term.html), McShep, industrial/high-tech level archipelago world, non-desert kinda slavefic, ~19,000 words.

There's also Forget Me Not (http://maisierita.livejournal.com/14509.html) by maisierita, ~47,000 words of not very B.C.-nature-seeming highrises with a little greenspace fairly high-tech penal colony fic, McShep.

the Hunting Parties series by Victoria Custer / LtLJ occurs primarily on a desert planet, with a little ice planet thrown in...there is slavery, now that I think about it, though it's just at the beginning (bad visitors to the planet have been enslaving people & kidnap John). The culture of the natives of the desert planet is interesting and different. I'd suggest checking it out, but it might not be what your looking for. (John/OMC)

An Earthly Knight by Victoria Custer / LtLJ
Occurs on a planet with really big trees, sound different from B.C., and John is transformed into an elf-like creature and goes native.

The True Story of When They Went A-Wandering by Auburn (R, gen)
http://community.livejournal.com/sga_santa/160050.html
The team goes on a cracky coming-of-age gate-hopping trip to a variety of planets. It's fun and funny!

There's an ice planet in Eat Your Heart Out, Peggy Fleming and a regular grass, dirt, rocks, and trees world in Some Assembly Required both by [livejournal.com profile] miss_porcupine. Another good one is A Funny Thing Happened on the way to Ipetia. These are great action/adventure stories. She writes gen and mixes up her world building nicely.

I'm not sure if this fits your request - it's more of the culture that the author has built than the scenery, but Skipping the Angles by T'Pring is awesome - http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5658746/1/Skipping_the_Angles

Edited to add - it's gen.
