[identity profile] debris_k.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sgarecfinders
Dear members and commenters,

I want to make one thing crystal clear, as it seems there's some confusion about our rules. (Which you can find on our profile page; in fact, go read them now so you'll know what I'm talking about.)

Breaking said rules while commenting anonymously is not okay. In fact, it's a bad idea. Very bad idea. It makes me angry because I immediately think it's some lj user trying to get away with it without being reprimanded or punished.

Luckily, I have an easy solution to the problem: anonymous commenting is being turned off in the community as of right now.

My good faith has been worn thin by recent trends of abusing the anonymous commenting privilege. It is now my belief that having to man-up to your words will be greatly beneficial to everyone who has found it easier to 'say' something without putting their name behind it. This is not elementary school and acting all grown-up like is greatly encouraged.

Feel free to contact me at my personal journal if you're an anonymous commenter who's been slighted by this decision and would like to change my mind over it. I'll gladly listen to your arguments and proceed from there.

P.S. Please tag your posts. Thank you! :-)

Clarification

Just checking. So saying something like "there is a fic in which rodney is a gnome/unicorn/rabbit and becomes president but I don't have the link or author, maybe somebody else knows it." is not allowed?
'cause oops and I'm sorry for all the times I did it.
Thanks

If you're seeking a particular story, the appropriate community for that is [livejournal.com profile] sgastoryfinders.

Hmm, not sure, but maybe instead phrasing it as:
"there is a fic in which rodney is a gnome/unicorn/rabbit and becomes president but I don't have the link or author -- I'm asking about it at [livejournal.com profile] sgastoryfinders for you"
(and then actually doing that) might be closer to acceptable?

(Also not that I haven't done the same thing a few times before, giant oops!)

Hearty yes, what [livejournal.com profile] bethynyc said -- modly mods deserve appreciation!

Many thanks from this relative (and probably sometimes annoying) newbie to both [livejournal.com profile] debris_k and [livejournal.com profile] lavvyan for making this a comm that is both purposeful and welcoming to SGA crack-hunters of all kinds. Asking that people read the rules before they first post (and reread them if they did something that showed they later forgot one) really doesn't seem unreasonable, nor does unfortunately having to turn off anon commenting when people are abusing it.

Wow- that was really refreshing and I'm so glad to see you take a decisive action and just ban anonymous commenting! Wishy-washy moderating drives me batty and keeps a community from being successful- so thanks :)
