Long Fics

So I am not really looking for a genre, but I think that this is still the place for this post. I was looking through my friends list and noticed that someone had asked about something pertaining to Becoming Connor Davids by Race_the_ace. I finished reading the most current chapter of this amazing fic yesterday, and I had a question. The Fanfiction dot net edited version of this fic is 55?,??? words long, making it the longest SGA fic on that server by about 200,000. I was wondering if there were any other fics or series that approached this length, or basically what the longest fics out there are, as I enjoy long fics a lot. I don't really care about the pairings, or genre, and before you suggest it I have seen the Big Bang site, I am looking for something longer here. I looked through the tags and didn't see any that were relevant, so I am not putting any, feel free to suggest some if you think they apply.

Thanks, I will look there. BCD doesn't seem to be anywhere near an endpoint, I wonder how long it will be when it is done, or if it ever will be...

You want epic? Check out puddle_of_goo's "A Life Less Ordinary" (http://puddle-of-goo.livejournal.com/23730.html) series - there's well over 1.0 million words in that entire series, and that is with only 10 stories in it & more coming. Anyhow, warnings for BDSM if that's not your thing.

Thanks for suggesting it. How strong is the BDSM? I have read some fics that are BDSM related that don't squick me, but others it is just too strong...

BDSM is not a generally favored theme of mine. I would say that this one is on the light to moderate side - if you've read Xanthe's "Hiding in Plain Sight" (http://www.xanthe.org/NCIS/hips/hipstitlepage.htm) (another long one at a bit over 200,000 words), it's about on par with that as far as explicitness goes; although maybe a slower progression since puddle_of_goo covers John & Rodney's relationship from the beginning & their exploration into BDSM, as well as more into the "lighter" toys; whereas, Xanthe's couples are pretty well-established in preferences before & during the course of the story.

I read one of the stories before Hiding in Plain sight, and about half of that story, but it was too much for me. Don't get me wrong, it was a wonderful story and well written, Xanthe should be proud, it just squicked me a little too much, I'm kinda a vanilla guy.

Eternity (http://kriadydragon.livejournal.com/63484.html) by kriadydragon is seriously long. It's also a great story, so if you're looking for something epic to read, I recommend giving that one a try.

Well, a while ago I did a tentative planning with my beta to estimate how much of the story arc needs to be told and... there's still room for a few multi-chaptered stories (also I forgot to name the 'Protect and Surive' pieces I wrote for my Lorne/Cadman fanfic100-claim... do you want them as well?). However, most of them seem to write themselves so usually, they're up-dated on a regular scale ;)

miss_porquipine's Qui Habitat is epic. Book One is complete; Book Two is in progress and is updated regularly. It's gen, apocafic, with a lot of well developed OCs. "Earth falls to the Ori."

I read that one about a month ago. I think it was the first gen fic in this fandom that I read, it was quite good. I really like the optional side stories so that, if you wanted, it was John Cam slash, but if you didn't it made total sense without it. I don't think I've read many stories that could do that. Thanks for reccing it though!

Unfortunately really good extra long fics are hard to come by. While probably not long enough for you, here are couple that may give you a little of what you're looking for.

East of the Sun, West of the Moon by Dossier is about 150,000. Wonderfully plotty. http://www.zonezine.net/~dossier/html/eastwest/ew.htm

Then there's quasars Criss-Cross series. Book 1, Cross Product is around 25000 words and is a sg1/sga crossover centered on john/rodney). Book 2 and on add in a cross over with The Sentinel. It's a fun series but doesn't have that epic feel to the story that I suspect you may be looking for. (I haven't read the fic you referred to so this is just a guess.)
