Rural Rodney?

I've read quite a few stories where John knows his way around a farm and farming, ie..."Iowaverse?".  But what about Rodney?  Any hidden farming skills, growing up with relatives learning how to milk a cow?  some intuitive abilities with horses?  McShep or Gen preferred, but pretty much willing to read anything in this genre (except maybe McBeckett).  Any rating.  Hope this is right as this is my first post here.

Rodney's a vet in "Animal Husbandry." There's not a huge emphasis on his skill with animals, but he is good with them, and it's an excellent McSheppy fic.

oh and I read a story at some point that I think was not an Earth-based-no-stargate-AU that had Rodney being unexpectedly proficient at riding horses (probably offworld somewhere?) -- possibly more so than John. May have been because of summers with his rural grandparents. Sorry I can't remember title or author but maybe this vague description will make another reader connect the dots...

alas nope, it's not Know How to Fall. That one's an Earth-based no-stargate AU in which both Rodney and John are equestrians; the one I'm thinking of -- and still haven't remembered more about, sorry -- features John and Rodney having to ride (horse-like creatures?) somewhere off-world, they're definitely based on Atlantis, and Rodney's unexpectedly competent at it.
