There was this discussion at Keira Marcos site about how Atlantis could track runners, but TPTB never tried to help them. Later, someone suggested a story which dealed with this problem, written by Blackchaps

Do you know more stories trying to solve this awful attitude? I don't care if it's gen, het or slash.

The only ones I've run across involving Runners has been when one of Atlantis' people has been made a Runner...

"Acidimia" (http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/197286.html) by sheafrotherdon has John as a Runner & Atlantis searches for him, leaving care packets at the most likely spots he'd visit. (McShep slash)

"Object in Motion" (http://offpanel.net/dmz/sga/object.html) & its sequel "Impetus" (http://miss-porcupine.livejournal.com/304847.html) by Domenika Marzione (aka miss_porcupine) has an Atlantis Marine as a Runner & trying to contact/get home without bringing the Wraith to them, Atlantis gets the message & tries to help. (Gen!fic)

I didn't read the first one (I will! thanks), but I did read (and liked very much) the second and the third. Unfortunatelly, what I want is someone taking some kind of attitude to help the existing runners, not just ones which can be from Atlantis.

As there's no tag for runners (yet, though I don't recall any related requests, though there must have been at least a few) I've added the 'miscellaneous' tag along with the genre one. That's all, really. :-)

"Missing Breath" (http://community.livejournal.com/ronon_love/2137.html) by perspi (Teyla's a Runner, told from Ronon's POV, Atlantis [Woolsey / IOA] pretty much puts the stops for searching after a few weeks, but out-going missions are all instructed by John to look for info on Teyla's whereabouts with each meet-and-greet. Ronon's leaving care-packages, and Rodney's running extrapolations....

Well, this doesn't really discuss much on a solution for tracking Runners, as the view point is from the Runner's - in fact, there's only a very short blurb towards the end that mentions that they even searched.... However, I'm bringing this one up because it's not your usual character made into a Runner -- Dr. Kavanaugh is a Runner in "Left Behind" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5674564/1/Left_Behind) by Jen Rock.

Found another one... "Fault Lines" (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=13975) by Claire has John & Rodney captured & made into Runners - while Atlantis does put their ears to the ground to find them, John & Rodney manage to make it back on their own...and there's an added twist for the tracker, which requires outside 'friendly' Wraith help.

I'm not sure this is exactly what you were looking for since it seems to be John & the team he's with that do anything -- so Atlantis isn't directly involved per se, but it implies something of a precedence I suppose.

This is an AU that has Teyla as a Runner, who doesn't actually meet any of the Atlantis Expedition until well after Ronon's been 'rescued' by John, so... without further ado: "The Athosian Runner" (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6078169/1/The_Athosian_Runner) by wedjatqi.

"Choices" (http://tenacious-err.livejournal.com/254412.html) by tenacious_err (AU-ish, Elizabeth is the Runner, John/Elizabeth pairing -- Not much left of Atlantis personnel, but there was found a way to maybe track Runners & retrieve them - as long as one of the people looking knew who they were looking for.)

This one was actually just posted up in the last week...

It's a complete canon-AU, which has Teyla as a Runner, again - she was a Runner when the Atlantis crew first met her. There are implications of at least Sheppard's team, thanks to McKay, having a plan of retrieval should one of them get captured & made a Runner, but nothing as far as retrieving other Runners. No pairings in this story.
