Atlantis is filled with only children?

Are there any fics that bring up/ deal with the fact that so many Lanteans are only children? Elizabeth, Carson, Ford, etc? And John and Rodney seem to consider themselves only children in some ways for a lot of the series. It makes sense, given the nature of the expedition, but has it been used to explain any of the wacky antics, and stupid mistakes- because there are so many independent-by-nature people. They could use some middle-kid-peacemakers.

Interesting idea; I haven't come across any fics like that yet.

And I don't know how many of them *are* only children. Carson says he's from a family of seven, for example. Lorne and Zelenka both have at least one sibling, and Ford is close enough to his cousin that she considers him a surrogate brother.

Hmm, well, this is what I get for getting my information from fanon.

They do seem like only children, though. None of them are used to asking for help, or expecting it to come.

I would think that would be attributed more to their chosen profession and the way the politics work within that profession than to what birth order they were in their respective families. That's not discrediting at all the influence of said families, though, on the individual person because work politics can only excuse so much; whereas, family is forever.
