Atlantis is filled with only children?

Are there any fics that bring up/ deal with the fact that so many Lanteans are only children? Elizabeth, Carson, Ford, etc? And John and Rodney seem to consider themselves only children in some ways for a lot of the series. It makes sense, given the nature of the expedition, but has it been used to explain any of the wacky antics, and stupid mistakes- because there are so many independent-by-nature people. They could use some middle-kid-peacemakers.
