McShep inspired by M&MM's scene

Okay, people. Bear with me here.

I was just re-watching "McKay and Mrs. Miller" and something came to me on the scene where Sheppard and Jeannie are watching the video Rodney recorded on episode 1x17 (Letters from Pegasus).

Weren't those videos supposed to be private? Or at least semi-private (Ford and someone else on SGC would be the only ones to watch it, I imagined). So how come John has it on his laptop? And still after more than an year?

Are there any Mcshep fics out there dealing with this questions? Maybe Jeannie realizing how Sheppard feels and helping them out... or Rodney finding out that video and confronting John... or even finding out about it after they are together (in a cute/embarrassing scene).

Someone must have written something along the lines of what I'm thinking here... Any McShep fics that simply mention that fact would be most welcome! It doesn't have to be the center of the deal...

I thought I'd seen a few, but the only one I find is Bridges (http://pollitt.livejournal.com/304558.html), from over at sga_episodefic. It's short and doesn't address most of what you mention, but it does involve Rodney finding out about John's showing Jeannie the video and his subsequent actions.

YES YES I totally agree. I thought there would be a ton of fic regarding that scene, but I haven't been able to find any that deal with it the way I think it should be dealt with. John still having Rodney's message, and the fact that he has obviously watched it (probably more than once) is I think a huge testament to his feelings for McKay. *sigh* Well I guess if there isn't very many fics about it then we will have to write them lol.

The closest I've found & this might be pushing it a bit on what you're looking for -- it's buried way in the middle of the fic (and it's a LONG fic, too - almost 60,000 words), but.... "Catalysis (http://www.fantasi.net/catalysis.html)" by Chandri MacLeod has Jeannie & John having a conversation about the video & John & Rodney's relationship with each other. And the pairing is McShep.


This one's a bit AU - Jeannie sees the video sooner than in the show, and her background is different, but there's just a hint of McShep, or at least hints at the desire for McShep on John's part. Again, probably not what you're looking for - definitely not slashy - but the relationship is there with Rodney & the team, & Jeannie's busy trying to figure things out, while having already drawn her own conclusions. Unfortunately, most of the fics I've been finding have been either post-"Miller's Crossing" or post-"The Shrine" - and I even found a drabble for post-"Quarantine".

To address the first question, Sheppard was Weir's 2IC. He would have the video and probably knows where Ford's stuff is stored. It was the first year, cut off.

I'm going to put forward the McShep slash fic "Force of Nature" (http://hawksong.com/~momskitchen/SGA_Fic/nature.htm) by mrshammill even though it's not quite a fit for the original request - and is slightly skewed for the amended request of post-"The Shrine." Reasoning: Jeannie has a talk with Rodney about videos made during episode "The Shrine" & basically throws Rodney & John at each other -- matchmaking McKay-style. LOL!
