Rodney's secret / building things

Hi, I'm back again - it seems like every story I read makes me go looking for something :o)

#1.
I'm looking for any stories where people learn something new about Rodney. It could be a dark painful secret or that he can sing (for example). Bonus points if he has a really dark secret, like being tortured (like in Replaced). Also, any stories where he is behaving secretively and someone is trying to find out why (again, serious or frivolous).

#2.
Any stories where Rodney builds gadgets (rather than fixing existing things), either as a gift or for any other reason. I've read a couple where he builds John a Ferris wheel and one where he makes a candy-floss machine at Christmas and I was wondering if there are any more.

McKay/Sheppard and longer stories always preferred but I'll read any length or pairing.

For the 2, i remember some fic where he build a x wing (from star wars) for John, but i don't have the link sorry. Does someone know it (if you have not already read it)

By the way, hum, do you have the link with the candy-floss machine ? I don't think i have read it yet, and it's look interesting

As for hiding things, I think there's at least one story out there where Rodney's hiding wings. It's "And You Loathe The Ground" by SardonicSmiley, but I can't find the link off the top of my head.

In Treading Water (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4085125/1/Treading_Water) by ThoughtReflex, everyone finds out Rodney's big secret--that he has gills on his sides--when he saves some people from drowning. The whole story is about Rodney freaking out that people know, and everyone's reactions, and why he has them. It may sound like a weird idea, but it's really well done and not at all hokey. One of my favorite gen fics. :)

Then, if you like that first story, it has two sequels: Still Waters (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4801715/1/) (which is a look into Rodney's past) & Lost At Sea (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4866842/1/) (which follows 'Treading Water' like a regular sequel). All three fic are gen, but there's a ton of JohnRodney friendship.

And I seem to be remembering only gen McSheppy friendship fics right now, but here are two fics where Rodney builds John stuff: Dog Days (http://community.livejournal.com/sga_genficathon/13643.html) by argosy (robot dog), and Infinite Recursion (http://ivy03.livejournal.com/193117.html) (something to return golf balls at sea).

The Courtship of Colonel Sheppard, or, The One With the X-Wing (http://uraneia.livejournal.com/18324.html) by uraneia Does what it says on the tin. I was sure somebody would mention this before me. Unlike the other X-Wing fic, Rodney actually builds it instead of bargaining for it. I particularly enjoyed this bit:

“So what you’re telling me,” Caldwell said, “is that not only can you not duplicate your results, but also that Colonel Sheppard is essentially the only one who will be able to fly that ship. Is that about right?”

Rodney didn’t know why he had to sound so pissed off about it.
