[identity profile] fennishjournal.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sgarecfinders
Hi,
I'm looking for two kinds of social science fics:

1) Fics featuring Heightmeyer in her professional capacity - femmslash, het, gen, it's all good as long as I get to see her doing her job. :-)

2) Also, are there any fics out there focused on anthropologists on Atlantis? I can't help thinking that there HAVE to be - the Pegasus Galaxy is any anthropologist's wet dream plus they could be mightily helpful with all those foreign cultures -  but I can't seem to find any.

Of course, if anyone recs me any Heightmeyer fics in which she interacts with anthropologists I might just combust from the awesome...

Thanks in advance!

In Concentric (http://sga.creativemachinations.com/reginasfic/concentric.html) by Regina Bellatrix, she's not the main character, but provides a space for therapy group sessions. (There is slash.)

The anthros have a cameo in this one (http://scherryzade.livejournal.com/3671.html). About 500 words, McShep.

For Heightmeyer, there were a lot of suggestions that weren't correct for a story involving her here (http://community.livejournal.com/sgastoryfinders/2092989.html), so that might also be a good listing. (I know I've read several, including a couple with extended counseling sessions, but I just can't find them at the moment, sorry.)

This story has quite a bit of Kate as therapist, but it's McShep and also a story about the trauma of a sexual assault.

so not sure if you'd want to read...

I have two, if you're interested.

One is gen, kind of UST mcshep , a Rodney character piece with him in sessions with Kate. Lovable (http://margarks.livejournal.com/439220.html).

The other is a mcshep, hurt/comfort fic. The Kate parts don't come in until part 3, though you don't actually have to read the other 2 fics, if you don't want. They are all kind of companion pieces.

Broken Trilogy, Warnings: Some psychological torture.
- Broken (http://margarks.livejournal.com/423883.html) -- Rodney gets broken, and John doesn't know what to do about it. This is a companion piece to Bruised. Each can be read separately.
- Bruised (http://margarks.livejournal.com/425939.html) -- Some nights the exhaustion and the bruises were enough to let him forget... This is a companion piece to Broken. Each can be read separately.
- Blameless (http://margarks.livejournal.com/425939.html) -- "Then whose fault was it, Colonel?" This is a companion piece to Broken and Bruised. Each can be read separately.

My personal favorite Heightmeyer appearances are in the Checkmate series by [livejournal.com profile] beadattitude.

I've just finished "The right thing to do" by Tridget. http://community.livejournal.com/sheppard_hc/308034.html

Heightmeyer isn't the main focus of the story (that's John and his issues plus John+Rodney friendship) but there are some nice scenes that have her and John working on his problem.

Um, totally pimping my own stuff here but...

I actually wrote a fic about Garret Corrigan, Archaeologist... (Discipline in Anthropology!) It's set in the 'Gifted Universe' AU by Leah and Springwoof, found here:

http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=12359

And there is a link in the author's notes to another Corrigan fic by Losyark.

I've never *ever* had a reason to rec my own fic before! (hope you don't mind.) And I love Anthropologists, too...

Take care,
Squeaky

And still strangely able to rec my own fic!

I've only written two fics in SGA, and yet (now that I read your post better) *both* of them fit your prompt. My other fic (also set in the wonderful 'Gifted' AU) has Heightmeyer as an extremely important supporting character doing - you guessed it - her job:

This one stars Sgt. Chuck Campbell because, hey! minor characters!

Once again, I hope you don't mind my self-indulgence.

Sq.

The last two stories in the 'Scruffy AI' AU series (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewseries.php?seriesid=114) both have Heightmeyer having a small but significant role doing her job with competence. :) The particular stories are 'Iron and Steel' and 'Born on a Morning'. I'm afraid you won't really understand the story unless you start from the beginning, though. But people have said they like them!

In the same Gifts AU as my sister [livejournal.com profile] squeakyoflight contributed to, the fic Enthrall (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewseries.php?seriesid=114) has at least one scene with Heightmeyer being cool and professional in it.

And yes, I've either co-written or written all of those under my other name, Leah. I'm glad you don't mind the self-pimping. :)
