Howdy.

I'd like to read fics that feature a sense of the community on Atlantis.  The ones that come to mind when I think of this are Pru's The Atlantis Local Stitch'n'Bitch Chapter, Once Upon A Furry Octopus by skoosiepants, the one with the paper airplane contest, the parts of One Piece At A Time where everyone stops by the shed to offer to help Sheppard, and um, well if you need more clarification, I'm sure I can think up some more examples.  Oh yeah, and if you hadn't noticed, I'm a McShepper, but I'd be willing to try out other pairings/gen if Atlantis community is the primary theme.

Once Piece at a Time reminded me of another fic, and the trusty people at sgastoryfinders have IDed it as Suddenly At Last by yin_again. http://yin-again.com/suddenly.htm There's some lovely stuff about finding and restoring yachts, which might be what you're looking for???

Great request! I don't have a tag for that sort of thing, so I had to hunt a bit.

Any fic in which Atlantis becomes independent is likely going to have the sort of vibe you're looking for. So:

1) There's a great wee fic called Two Years After Tomorrow (http://community.livejournal.com/mcsheplets/101350.html?page=4), by lavvyan. It's from an OC-third-person POV, short, sweet, a little sad a little happy and definitely infused with the Atlantis community spirit.

2) I find myself constantly reccing Liminal (http://www.alyse.info/sesa_files/liminal.htm), a beautiful, dreamlike story of the 'Lanteans building a home together after many are left without in post-WWII Britain, very often. When the ghosts start appearing, along with the phantasm of a city-in-the-sea, and mysterious crystals that light to the touch of John's hand, Elizabeth and her people must embark on one more journey...

3) There is always velocitygrass's Life After (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=49). Sweet story about how John and Rodney sleep together before they sleep together. The one where Earth is gone and people pair up and the unmanned, Wraith-killing puddlejumper is born. There is a lot of Team! in this fic, or at least that team-y feeling, but there are some OCs and Radek and others who are important - not just the quartet with whom we are most familiar. Lots of working together, etc. (I must admit I usually stop reading after the thing with the Hives... because my <3 is for romantic tension.)

4)And All We Have (http://sgabigbang.talkoncorners.net/?view=fic&id=6) by seekergeek quite possibly is the best fit so far. Atlantis is shut off from earth and Teyla starts making marriage plans. The one where Teyla is Mary Sue, John is repressed, Rodney is almost comedically clueless, Elizabeth is parochial, and Evan is from a commune. A lot better than I'm making it sound, this is a hang-together-or-hang-separately story. ;)

5) In Transcendental (http://www.intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/transcendental.html), a sarin gas exposure leaves Dr. Weir incapacitated, and Rodney running the show. Rodney immediately and unequivocally takes control, through innovation and by bulldozing over anybody who disagrees. The interesting thing is that he forces everyone to work far better together than they had under Elizabeth's command. Plus - the flaming hotness of this one is not to be disputed.

6) Of a similar vein is All the Things Rodney Never Was (http://smiley.zonezine.net/html/36940.html), by sardonicsmiley. Disaster befalls Atlantis, the SGC, Earth, in the form of a new enemy. Rodney is all that's left of the original power structure - so he must do Elizabeth's job, and John's, and Carson's, and Teyla's, and Ronon's, and his own... What I remember most about this story was how the community FELT about Rodney and what he did for them and why. Perhaps I should say this fic seems to be infused with the spirit you seem to be looking for.

7) I just recced this one yesterday! Less to Say (http://community.livejournal.com/mcshep_match/37835.html) is a beautifully crafted story about the 'Lanteans making a new life for themselves on earth. Though you get limited POV, it's very clear how everyone is working together to make it happen.

8) Of a similar vein is everybody's had to fight to be free (http://lalejandra.livejournal.com/184523.html?view=3579595#t3579595), a rather surreal look at the entire 'Lantean population living in a commune in Montana.

9) Indelible (http://shaenie.livejournal.com/332275.html) perhaps takes the community cake. It's a story about many people on Atlantis, not just the Team, discovering new aspects of the city and how it works, but it's so much more than that. Hard to explain, but excellent - if you haven't read, you should. ;)

10) Following Seas (http://cobweb-diamond.livejournal.com/183438.html) is a cool little story, mostly earthside - with a lot of 'Lantis! and Team! moments. DADT is repealed, Rodney is bi, and Sheppard never sees it coming.

I get this feeling from the Checkmate (http://beadattitude.livejournal.com/267757.html) series, which involves John going on an unexpected spirit walk and Rodney dealing with the fallout- and the community of Atlantis.
