John saves Woobie Rodneykins...

Hi I'm in serious need of fics wherein John(or any male character) swoops in and saves miserable Rodney from his miserable existence... I just read the fic Butterfly Effect by chaps1870 and it made me cry... now I crave for similar fics... It doesn't have to be really similar... I'm just looking for this elements:
1. Rodney is having a miserable life... or has problems... or is being/has been shunned by others...
2. John (or any other macho character, just indicate if it's not John) swoops in to save him from the cruel world and proceeds to shield him from all of it...
3. Angst

It could be gen, or slash....Bonus if there's:
1. Rodney cuddling.... any treating of him like he's a glass about to break....
2. Overprotective!John...
3. warm fussiness after the angst

It's still a WIP, but oh, poor, poor Rodney! And super-comforting!John. An AU in which Rodney is a convict slave and John is offered him as a bribe to get him to accept the posting to Atlantis. I don't have a title or link, but I read one once where John is poses as a gun for hire (but actually I think turns out to have some other job) and rescues Rodney from some people who want to kill him in the South American rainforest, modern-day. Sort of "Romancing the Stone" but not quite. Anyone remember this one?

Also it happens over and over again in Xanthe's AU series that starts with Coming Home. Google xanthe and it'll come up.

Rewrite of "An Affair to Remember" - Rodney lives a totally isolated life as the secret lover of a closeted engineer in the city. A former silver miner whose parents died of influenza, life seems to be taking him nowhere - UNTIL - he meets the man of his dreams on a cruise: international playboy Johnnie Sheppard. For my money, the best, most shameless h/c-shmoop in fandom. (Is this one of those fics everyone already knows about? Not sure.)
