[identity profile] janineo.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sgarecfinders
Been lurking here for a while, please forgive me if this post isn't suitable. I checked the rules and it seemed ok.

I'm off on hols soon and would love some long SGA fic to put on my Sony Reader.

Can anyone recommend anything? I've read both Big Bangs and wondered what else is out there.

I like Rodney, John, or Ronon centric, most pairings except McKeller or McWeir.
Slash, Het or Gen, Team, Friendship, AU, crossover, canon.

Please no Season 5 spoilers as I have to wait for the DVD's to come out in the UK for that.

Many Thanks,
Janine

Edit: Thanks for all the links, now I have to refrain from reading them till my hols!

One of my fav AU's (though arguably it may not fit the AU's genre as it branches nicely off canon) is Evander's Heir http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3828287/1/Evanders_Heir

The author is almost finished writing a sequel as well-

Indelible (http://shaenie.livejournal.com/327764.html) by [livejournal.com profile] shaenie is long and brilliant McShep at 80k words or so. She wrote it before season 5 started, so I don't think there's any spoilers.

There's a ton more to rec, and mine are going to be almost exclusively McShep, so I'll direct you here, to [livejournal.com profile] bookshop's McShep primer (http://bookshop.livejournal.com/958654.html), complete with recs, including the entire output of several amazing authors. There's enough there to read for quite a while.

sardonic smiley has quite a few long length fics, astolat has a few too, off the top of my head.

Auburn ( [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna on LJ ) writes lots of long fic (http://www.eternalvox.net/%7Eauburn/fiction.html#atlantis-fic). Just a small warning--though her occasional comedy is hilarious, and she has lots of juicy, plotty stories, very little of what she writes can be termed "fluffy" in any way, and for many of the stories, if she hasn't made you cry by the end, you're a much tougher nut to crack than I am, dearie.

If you don't mind stories that make you cry, you might try Leah & my The Body Holographic (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=7849&warning=12).

I particularly recommend In The City Of Seven Walls (http://www.eternalvox.net/~auburn/citysevenindex.html). Powerful story.

For the fluffiness, I recommend [livejournal.com profile] sheafrotherdon's A Farm In Iowa (http://sheafrotherdon.livejournal.com/105567.html) series.

I have an AU, Out Of Bounds (http://www.icarus.slashcity.net/stories/outofbounds.html) that is approximately 200,000 words.

Then there's [livejournal.com profile] astolat's A Beautiful Lifetime Event (http://intimations.org/fanfic/stargate/lifetime_event.html).

For more options, you can check out the SGA Big Bang. Also, [livejournal.com profile] amothea has a website with stories already formatted for e-readers: The EBook Library (http://amalthia.mediawood.net/ebooks/). She's always ahead of the curve. :)

Oh, I can be found sniffling away on the train into work if the story is emotional enough!
If a story can get you involved enough to cry, then it's definately a good story.

Thank you for the recs, I'll check them out.

I'm glad someone beat me to linking to the Ebook Library. All the RTF stories on the site should load to your device without any problems. Also, any LRF file at the site is formatted just for the Sony device.

I have a Sony PRS-505 so when I created the site it was with my device in mind however I'm adding more formats for the people who have the Kindle.

I'd love if you'd be willing to do that! :)

Would you like access to the author permission google spreadsheet first though? That away you don't have to ask the author again if we've already contacted him/her?

Also, if the author is on the site it means we have permission to host their works, we're not asking for specific stories per say.

My email is amalthia at gmail.com please feel free to email me. At work they cut off LJ as a site we could visit.
