McShep unrequited at first

Hi everyone! I've just joined, so this is my first post here.

I'm in the mood for a John/Rodney fic where one of the pair is in love with the other (who knows or finds out how the first feels about him), but the other doesn't feel the same way at first (but does in the end). Fics where they just think the other doesn't feel the same way don't count.

I have two contributions: "No Refunds or Exchanges" and " Oblivious", both by astolat (although "Oblivious" is kinda borderline, because they have sex before John returns Rodney's feelings)

I also have a question: I read in the community info page the phrase "character whump". I've seen that before, but have no idea what it means. Can someone please fill me in? Thanks!

Misperception (http://janne-d.livejournal.com/35297.html) by janne_d -- In which Rodney gets things wrong. A lot. Sheppard pines. (This one is hard to describe; incidental_fire's rec is the best put, imo:)

This is relatively unusual in that it's a straight!John fic told from Rodney's POV, but all the more interesting for that. It's a touch heartbreaking to see Rodney so desperately trying to convince John that he's not interested in him, trying to do what he thinks is right. But, it makes the end that much better, so it's definitely worth it.

Ooh, actually... check out this rec list (http://incidental-fire.livejournal.com/17018.html) for 'Previously Straight' fic (list by incidental_fire), which will be right up this request's alley, I think. It has listings for Rodney, John, and both.

Just finished "Misperception", and it actually falls into the category of "they only think it's unrequited, but it's really not" ;)

Sorry about that! I thought I'd managed to follow all the rules this time. Thanks for the link to Fanlore - I've never heard of it before and it should come in handy.
