Animal transformation fics and animal!AUs

After searching the comm up and down I finally concluded that not only have we never had a real animal transformations post open to all related fics, we never had one requesting animal!AUs, either. And as Crossroads is lacking an appropriate tag or two as well, here we are. Your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to rec fics:

1. in which some SGA character or characters are turned into animals (just specify whether the fic is gen, het or slash, and who gets turned into what the kind of animal - unless it's a spoiler, in which do your best while being vague *g*)

2. set in an alternate universe (AU) in which some SGA characters are and always have been some kind of animal - mystical (animalistic) creatures also applicable, but no alien!aliens, please

I could've sworn I've helped collect a bunch of bird!AUs once somewhere around here, but I'll be darned if I can remember which post it was in. Instead, here's a link to thirdblindmouse's penguin!fic list, and have some duck!fics to start off:
- (1) A Duck's Life by cordeliadelayne, in which John and Rodney are turned into ducks, McShep, G
and
- (2) The Ugly Duckling by keefaq, a post-Trinity meets Hans Christian Andersen AU, in which Rodney is the ugly duckling and John is a swan, McShep, G.

I might compile these into a list (or two), if it hasn't been done before. (And if it has, I'd love to know about it!)

ETA: I also tracked down:
- (1 cleverly disguised as 2) When the Pegasus Galaxy and a Duck Collide - With John Stuck in the Middle and its sequel When You Get Rodney McKay Instead of a Duck by bergann, in which Rodney is a duckling, and John takes him to Atlantis
- (1) Resolutely Human by delurker, in which they are turned into telepathic ducklings (or at least John and Rodney are, for sure), gen, G
- (2) With Feathers + A Bird of Courage (sequel commentficlet) by aesc, in which they're wild turkeys, McShep, PG
- (1) lcsbanana's post with the cute animal transformation ficlets is now f-locked, but the ficlets she wrote can all be found in two-color dog happiness, in which the characters get turned into small, cute animals - baby alien hippos and cranky turtles and puppies, oh my.
- (1) sardonicsmiley also wrote a untitled turned-into-a-duckling!John commentficlet, in which Rodney surmises that the trasformation hasn't affected John's personality at all *g*, tame Rodney & John

EDIT: The penguin!fic I was thinking of is one of Karen Mcfadyyon's, and I know her fic isn't posted anymore. I might have it saved to my computer at home, though. I'll check later.

Yay for the multichaptered version! (I was actually thinking about your other post with 10 or so fic add-ons which also has a teeny-tiny part from the Cat/Raven 'verse... I think, it's been ages since I've re-read that post as I was trying to catch up with all the 'verses/fics there, which wasn't easy - you prolific writer, you. ;-P )

And to be fair, you received a heck of a lot of recs - some that haven't been recced here and I've not read before (also considering that you didn't respond to any of the comments - positive feedback keeps the reccers going; no feedback makes them think the effort is not appreciated).

Sorry to burst your bubble as it were, but being one of the aforementioned reccers I can honestly tell you *I* only noticed the ETA when I re-read your post just now, and otherwise had no idea you even cared about the comments.

This is why editing a post after the original posting to the community should only be done to make fic and rec-finding easier for other folks, or correct mistakes and such. Adding new things leads to them being overlooked by anyone following the comm on their f-list, as posts get shunted down by newer posts with time. And not many commenters go back to check up on posts they've already recced stuff on, as we all rely on receiving feedback in the form of comments - and not on the necessity of keeping tabs on a post "manually".

Which is why (we) the mods here encourage posters to respond to comments and keep up the good rapport between requesters and reccers - because, lets face it, without folks feeling encouraged to rec, this comm would a dull and drab place indeed. :-)
