Hi, I'm looking for a specific kind of AU, namely where John for some reason doesn't go to Atlantis but the rest including Rodney do,  and then he meets  McKay some other way.  Preferably McShep. Thanks a lot in advance.

Have you scanned all "au"-requests? when you do it, you'll find many, many.....
It is always better to look at previous entries when you search something.

Yeah, I have actually read through quite a few of previous requests. Perhaps I should have been a little more clear: I actually wanted a fic where not only SGC exists but Rodney and rest do go to Atlantis, but Sheppard doesn't. Thanks a lot for the links. :)))

Anyways, yeah, once you edit your post folks will know which fics to rec you, but for now I can definitely say that anything from ultimateficarchiver's delicious listed under the AU with Stargate (http://delicious.com/ultimateficarchiver/sga?addtag=au-withstargate) tag would fit your request. :-)
