I come here, hat in hand, looking for Sheppard-centric gen stories. I'm not after any particular genre, but I'm *not* interested in whump.

If anyone could spare me a rec, I'd be most appreciative. :)

There is some angsting, but I'm not sure whether it's 'whump'. But my cunning plan to wait and see what got recced first to get a feeling for it? Well, that's taking too long. Hence:

Your Cowboy Days Are Over (Mammas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys) (http://www.butcheredart.net/Fiction/YourCowboyDays.html) by M. NC-17, 329 kb. There are some (hetero-)sexual themes, but I would say you can easily skip them. It's only one scene as far as I remember and I found this is a wonderful read.

Also East of The Sun, West of The Moon (http://www.zonezine.net/~dossier/html/eastwest/ew.htm) by dossier, R, 828K. Yes, another long one. It's also interesting and engaging and thoroughly enjoyable. The ending was a little meh for my tastes, but who cares when the other 23 chapters are this good, eh?

And though this is not entirely Sheppard-centric (there's a lot of Jack O'Neill pov as well), I also want to point you at the Retrograde series (http://www.ltljverse.com/watergate/seriesindex.htm), because I love it so very well. Beware that some of the later stories have sexual themes, though they are clearly labeled. The first ones stand perfectly on their own and are completely gen, though.

But again. There's angsting and hurting in all of them, so maybe none of these are what you were after. Plus they're all kinda really, really long.

I'm already familiar with the Retrograde series (one of my favourite crossovers with SG-1), but the other two are new to me.

Kind of Humour/adventure/John gets beat up a bit, but in a funny sort of way...

The Geeks and Goons (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/738014/Koschka) series by Koschka are gen, mostly about Sheppard and fun.


Sorry, I've realized a lot of my fics have John getting hurt, though they're usually not angst.
